I just purchased a 2000 Lincoln LS. My button for the trunk and the fuel door located inside the car isn't working. I can open the trunk with the remote and there is a fuel door release inside the trunk. However, I don't want to rely on that forever. Besides my husbands key doesn't do anything but open the driver door. It won't even start the car. So I'm planning on going to the dealer ship to have a second key done but I still would like at the very least for my fuel door to open from inside the car. I've looked in the glove box and I don't see the valet button. My manual says "If equipped" for the valet button. The dealership wants to charge me a small fortune just to see if they can figure out whats wrong with them. Is there any place else that this optional valet button would be located? My glove box doesn't even lock so that seems like a stupid place to put the button. Most of my glove box is taken up by the 5 disc cd player anyway. I've checked the fuse and the fuse is good. Anything else I could try?

The 2000 didn't have a valet key. I would suspect the two buttons aren't plugged in. Check behind the trim piece and see if the connections are, well, connected.

You saved me 98 bucks LS4me plus all that labor that was involved. I'm Lincoln would have found a way to charge at least 200 bucks!! LOL!! The trunk switch was unplugged and so was the fuel door but the latch on the fuel door is actually broke. Hubby said he can easily fix the latch where it will work so that I don't have to open the trunk when I need gas.

Thanks for the help!!

A girl on the LS forum? Is that legal? :D

Sometimes, the latch just needs some spray grease on it to restore it to correct operation. (I assume that it opens from the pull cord, but just clicks when you hit the switch.)
