hello i need a little assistance. my 2000 lincoln ls sport 5 speed clutch pedal wont spring back when shifting. i suspect the slave cylinder but cant locate it. does anyone know where i can find it? some people are saying that it is inside the clutch and transmission housing but in my experience i have seen them under the hood where you can change them easily. if someone can send me a diagram or a pic and info i would appreciate it. maybe even the part number. thank you guys in advance.

Slave cylinder is inside the bellhousing (circular with the input shaft passing through it.

I would check fluid and see if topping up and bleeding help. The fluid uses the brake cylinder reservoir (it draws from above the brake master cylinder so that a fault with the clutch system does not impact the brakes). I think you've run low on fluid (disc wear) and drew air into the clutch hydraulic system. I believe there is a bleeder screw on the end of a line external to the transmission.

I think removal of the master cylinder will require removal of the transmission.
