Hi my name is Matt, I recently bought a 2000 Lincoln LS, I have owned 3 in the past and I have always loved them. The Lincoln I bought this time was sitting in a car lot, the owner stated it needed a new motor. I listened to it start right up but was misfiring exteremly bad. I changed the coils and spark plugs. The car increased dramatically!! For a little back ground on the car it has been sitting for about 10 months not running. It runs but when it idles its really choppy, it runs good when driving down the street no hesitation at all. What could be the problem?

Your iac solenoid on the throttle body is carbon covered and can't react fast enough to the computer controlled throttle. Clean or replace iac and clean the throttle body as well.

Also a compression check can tell you everything you need to know. These are amazing cars but very finicky at the same time.
