20" Tire Sizes

Okay guys, I know there has been a lot of discussion about 20" rims and rubbing problems. I'm just wondering why people are using 245/35/20 size rubber when a lot of people have been complaining about rubbing problems. Why not go with a smaller series? I was thinking of trying the sizes below. Let me know what you guys think. I was leaning towards the 235/35-20 so that I can also drop it maybe 1.5" without any problems.

Well, I don't use 235/35/20s because I do not like the way they look skinnier than the 245/35s. The 245/30s mights have beel a good choice, but they will ride harder than the 245/35s and will also be more expensive.

I do not have much problems with my 245/35s and I think they look just right on my LS.

They look skinnier? You mean you can actually tell because the only difference in the sidewall is 2/10".

Yes, on 20x8.5 wheels the 245 tires look OK, the 255s look perfect but are too big for it. The 235s will look bad because the angle of the egde will be more "in", if you know what I mean.

If you compare the 35 with 30 and you drive the car, you can tell the difference.

I have 245/35/20's and I've never experienced any rubbing, even with a full load of people in the car. Do the 03+ have a wider wheel well than the 1st generations?

30's will definitely be a rough ride. I'm riding on 245/35/20 on 8.5" wide wheels on my 2003 LS and they ride like the stock tires as far as road sensitivity. I tried 255/35/20's first. They looked amazing, but didn't clear the rear fender, front was fine though, didn't even affect the turning radius. My 245/30's rub only on the rear passenger side over big dips in the road that cause the suspension to compress. The offset on my wheels is +35. I'm assuming that +45 is a big difference, and would be required to fit 255's. I can't otherwise see how guys are riding on 255's and not rubbing. The 255's on my wheels were right inline with the rear fender. I wish I had dropped the car before deciding on a wheel though, I don't think I can put a drop on my ride now with these wheels. I'll post some pics of my ride when I can. HyeLifeLS was right about the sidewall "in" with the 235's, 255's were flush with the lip of the rim, whereas the 235's would be stretching on 8.5" and angled back toward the car.

I am also running on 245/35/20's and I have not experienced any rubbing of any kind. I was thinking about dropping my car with the Eibach springs, but I haven't really checked it out to see if I have the clearance to do so or not.
