1997 Mark VIII Question

I have always used Mobile1, However since it cost so much I switched to Motorcraft semi-synthetic 5-20 this time around. It's half the price of Mobile1 & I'm sure that it's good quality oil since it's a genuine Ford product. I always use a Motorcraft filter as well.

As far as Royal Purple goes, I'm sure that it's a very good oil & doesn't discriminate against fords or any other manufacturer. I prefer Mobile1 but I'm not going to pay $35 bux to do my own oil change.

If you properly maintain your engine & change your oil when you should then I really think that conventional oil would be just fine. The synthetic is just better.

Synthetic motor oil becomes more important to engines with higher outputs with larger fuel injectors or fuel consumption. They have enhanced friction , anti foaming, and anti corrosion properties to add protection to the vitals against the presence of unburnt fuel as well. Generally not a biggy, but if your are running boost you should be running a synthetic.

Motorcraft semi synthetic is cheap and very good for 5000 mile oil changes.

I have heard a lot of good things about Motocraft oil. I'm contemplating it with my Vic, regardless of the oil I use Wix filters.

I've been tossing around the idea of goin with Royal Purple but I get free BMW synthetic (castrol) 5w30, so it makes it hard to go out and want to actually pay for oil.

Can't really beat free i guess but like i said before i use Royal Purple and so far its really good .. I love it.

How often should my transmision fluid be changed? How should I go about changing the fluid
