This morning I had to use the "alternate" method to get my car to come out of park. As directed by the owner's manual, the brake lamps and hazard lamps weren't working so, I check the fuse. However, the fuse was not blown. Has anyone else experienced this?
Could be the brake pressure switch on the brake pedal? Everything else, as far as I can see, checks good.

I would definitely check the switch behind the break pedal.......you had no trouble starting it right? That's the only thing I can think of that would restrict you from getting the car out of park, besides not pressing in the button on the gear shift.

No, it started up just fine. That pedal switch is ALL I can think of but, I didn't think it would prevent the car from being shifted. I'm gonna go by another one at lunch and give it a shot. It's gotta be something that simple. Driving with no brake lights is a ticket waiting to be written.

This happned in my 84'. Hit the shifter. Mine was up a ways. So, when I pushed the button. It was't doing anything. Just smack it! Before you do anything. Could save you time!

The cable connecting it to the tranny could be binding. You may have to disconnect it at the tranny and pull it out of park manually. Sounds like the mlps on the tranny but I will defer to others that may be more knowledgeable.

I put a new brake switch on it and took another look at the fuse. Daylight obviously works better than a flashlight cause that little 10AMP was blown. I went a head an put the switch on cause I think that was blowing the fuses previously.
