hey guys my brother wants to buy a LS so we saw a 2001 v8 ls sport and i was wondering your thoughts on it. here is the link.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180359318104&_trksid=p2759.l1259

i want to know would you guys consider getting it and if so for how much would you pay for it.

196k is alot of miles but for the right price i may consider it. after a full test drive ofcourse i live in NYC and the seller is just minutes away from me so i can go check it out.

for some reasons the link is not working but if you go to ebay and search for the item number 180359318104 then you will be able to see it.

frankly a 2001 with 196k miles would be worth 1500-2500 considering if it's fully loaded or what option are available for a healthy car is should only of traveled 12k miles per year if it exceeds that I heard it devalues even greater than what it would be. so what...8 years by 12k miles....96000 miles it should have....

or maybe i'm just rambling :-D

but I hate to know what repairs you will have to do....

i know it is alot of miles but i think about it this way i have a 04 v8 and i have 90k and never had a issue other than the coils that we all have. i guess for 2500 i might take a chance on it.

gen2 > gen1

I wouldnt give him anymore than the $1800 its already up too. As soon I you get it you should just go ahead and change out the whole timing assembly before it breaks and it will

i won the auction and got it for $1800 on friday im going to see the car and test drive it and get it inspected by my friend that is a mechanic. question what does the timing assembly entail and how much will it cost.

if anything you could make nearly 5000 for selling it out as parts :-D

lots of guys here might enjoy the parts....I for one would enjoy the center console but I still gotta get out and get my R1 rotors/ss brake lines put in :/

2 primary timing chains
2 secondary timing chains
2 primary tensioners
2 secondary tensioners
1 crankshaft seal
1 timing cover gasket
3 guides
You should go ahead and change the valve cover gaskets too because they tend to fail. I would also change the serpentine belt also. You can get everything from Pat at Team Ford for about a grand but its worth it. There number is 702-395-5150 ask for pat in the parts department. I think that is it but if anybody sees something i missed please add to the post.

well that is alot cinsidering that a used engine with 30k - 60k is worth about $850. i may just replace the whole engine and be done with it, what do you think?

damn that much? when my car needed an engine replament the warrenty ppl had to pay 5000 on a salvage engine with 43k miles :P

wow thats alot, on ebay for a 06 engine is less than 2500, how long ago was this and why did you need a engine replacement.

I bought my car in end of April 2007 (Massage Graduation Gift To Myself) and then in July of 2007 the engine stalled and tranny light went on when I was driving to Vancouver. The ford dealership said a few spark plugs went dead and I said fix what you can to get my car driveable. No more than a week later my car started misfiring (uhg) and I towed it to the Lincoln dealership of Bellevue, WA since the car had MAJOR loss of power. They said I needed a new engine...thankfully (aftermarket warrenty) covered this..I just had to pay out of pocket for the hoses :/

Took the retard warrenty ppl 1 f*cking month to approve the repair and the FIND a junkyard with a used engine since they didn't wanna pay 1k more for a brand new engine....and they wouldn't let me pitch in the extra 1k to do it.....

So after not having my LS for a month I finally got my car back and this was Aug. of 2007 (right after my 21st bday...which was a drag as always )

Majority of engine failure on a LS is in the timing assembly. To be super safe pull the heads and change the head gasket and it will be almost like a new engine.
