15" L7's (Need Custom Box)

Ported will sound a lot better but really it's a personal choice and depends on what type of music you listen to normally. Rock and clasical would be better in a sealed more punchy box and rap, r and b and a few others will sound better with a more boomy sound.
There are lots of other equations in this of course.

The truck is really shaped funny so it will be hard unless the box is customized to fit some of the curvatures of the trunk.

You dont have to cut them off you can take them off thats what I did to mine.... You have to stick your fingers up in and hold the bolt
 
nah those jls can take it.. truthfully if u got some money to throw at music 2 13 w7 will destroy anything that right there is a natural born beast i dont wanna hear it and for almost 6 bills each it better be worth it

300-400 watts per is optimum... 600 per max... as seen on JL's website: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_subs.php?series_id=4

You're running 400 watts more than max RMS, and a solid 800 more than optimum. I'm sure they do hit hard, but I also imagine they sound like a$$.

But you're right, JL makes some outstanding products... (I'm running JL in my truck... went Kicker in my boat because they have marine amplifiers and the price was right!)

MTX JackHammer cost like 6-8k does that mean its worth it? NO
JL is overrated hype. id put my DD9512 vs the 12w7 or even the 13.5w7.
Tell me your 2 w6s are in a custom ported enclosure and you might be onto something.

i hate to disagree but the jl 13.5 w7 will kill ur dd's. given the rite airspace and proper installation of course. in no way am i saying ur setup is bad im just standing up for what ive seen. i had 2 jl w7 10s with a 1000/1 to each one and it hurt 6 decibals louder than my 2 kicker l7 12's with same amps. but it would be next to impossible to fit 2 13w7 in an ls with the proper enclosure. thats why i just went to 4 10 inch w6 haha not proper airspace but sounds goood and looks good

That's not really a fair comparison. Yes DD will hit harder but that's because it is an SPL sub compared to the JL which is an SQ or SQL sub.

DD = higher spl
JL = better sound quality

The W6 is by far the best in there line though and would kill the W7

The W7 sounds like A$$ compaired to the W6, thats why i consider the W7 to be JL's SPL sub. The mounting depth and displacement is too damn much. Iv seen two 13w7s in an LS before and didnt get nearly as loud as i imagined. I has seen them from the inside and asked to see the trunk, opened the trunk to find out they are mounted on a baffle and the trunk is the "enclosure" Im rolling my eyes in my head thinking a waist of good kit and i see a crowd of people starting to form and i hear "OHHHH JL!!"

For the price I have always thought JL is so over rated...If you like them cool but please dont say there all that
