Well since we were having some warmer than expected weather i thought it would be a great time to take the lsc out of hibernation alittle earlier than expected. I didnt really have any real big projects in store, new clips for the sunroof access cover, glue some weather stripping, hardwire my radar detector, Rub out some paint blemishes, and maybe if i feel motivated pull the steering wheel and replace the multifunction stick.

Ends up i totally forgot the t-50 bit for the wheel so i could'nt do that after i took everything apart. Then i started to think "while i have this apart". Yup, I just dove right in and started to replace my blend door. Quite honestly it is not hard at all granted im not done yet I was dreading the day i had to hunker down and " do it". So far the only step i had to think about were the 2 clips holding the rear of the shifter down. Luckily i took my time and didnt break them.

I'm about 1/3 of the way through with my total time at about 1hr -smoke breaks, ect. I have alot of those when i work on my cars for some reason.???

So to all dreading, It's not that bad. If you can take out bolts and screws and read simple directions you should be fine.

Lets just hope the other 2/3's go as easily as the first.

almost positive the steering wheel dosent have to come off, 3 screws to remove the column cover and 2 t-15 or t-20 bolts holding the switch to the steering column

Its a 97lsc.

The way the switch is put on is rediculous. Its a stalk attached to a big looking donut that requires you to remove the s/w. The "donut" part wraps around the steering colum.

holy hell, i just went to the ford tech site (cuz i didnt believe you and thought you were looking at the wrong part) and what the hell? its the clockspring and the switch together...............why would they do that when everyother car they make is the normal ford "multi-funked-up switch". ive done 100's of there switches (stupid ford) and all are 3 screws, 2 bolts and 10 min, and have never done a markviii, well "you learn something new everyday"

I beleive the clockspring is a seperate part from the mfs. Though it might appear that way in the pick

they dont mention removing the clock spring.....

Was that sarcasm? I thought it was different. I havent been able to dig in yet. Coulnt i just unplug the cs and reinstall in same manner?

yes, i guess it was sarcasm maybe a little lolol, but it really looks like a clock spring and yes if not just unplug it and your ok

lol, ok..All i have is a idea of how it looks in my head.Never did one before.
Why is it that poeple often times break the clockspring when removing the s/w?
