Anyone know what these Marks will do on the 1/8 mile 100% STOCK? My friends are practically begging me to race just for fun but I wonder if behind the begging there's a desire for embarrassment. I would end up taking my prairie tan 97 to Homestead Speedway here in Miami where we usually go. Tires are @ 30% thread so I know I will spin the first couple seconds for sure! I really want to get back into racing. Last time I raced a car was back in 2001, My ol' supercharged T-Bird so I'm sure I need some practicing to bring back ol' habits but they say it's just like riding a bike, you truly never forget.

faster. I went 9.68 in the 1/8 on my 14.9 1/4 mile run 100% stock 97 lsc and i know some on here ran faster

Non-LSC in my case. Both of my Marks are base. I wonder what I can do in the next couple weeks to get a little more power. Just enough to shave a 1/2 a second. Right now I'm really missing my '93.

I'm have no intentions of making a Corvette out of my car at this moment but one of my buddies owns a Trailblazer SS. I remember a couple years ago I ran with one on a local street (in my '93). Granted I was doing 30 when I floored it. I gained a car length by the time I was hitting 90mph but then he just slowed down to make a left turn. SO I guess I just wanted to know if I can hang with the Trailblazer. He was doing 9.78 on the 1/8 mile all night.

By the way, on another note? My friend in the Trailblazer raced his cousin in a brand new 2013 V6 EcoBoost F-150 w/only 4,100 miles currently on the odometer & he literally had his @ss handed to him (4 car lengths on the 1/8 mile).
The new V6 EcoBoost is twin turbo. He also raced his brother which owns a 6.0 Liter GTO & this time the GTO beat him but by 2 car lengths only. Pretty damn impressive if you ask me.
Later on that night I test drove the truck. I was insanely impressed. I'd own that EcoBoost in a heartbeat if I had the cash. $39,000 out the door.

Trailblazer SS runs 14 flat 1/4 mile stock, so I'm sorry to say a stock Mark would get beat.

1/8 ET 9.761 all stock 97 lsc. I had three coils going out at the time. I think she had a 9.6xx in her had it not been for the coils. I haven't ran it since replacing them.

These cars stock do not have much bottom end torque and are single wheel traction plus on top of that they are light in the rear end. So it will most likely be embarrassing. In stock form they shine best in the last half of the 1/4 mile. Also stock Mark VIIIs are good from a kick down were they can start at a speed were it is up in its upper power band of that gear. There is a dead spot between first and second were it is to fast to gear down into first but to low of an rpm to have much power in second. But thats why a stall and gears with a limited slip improve these cars so much.

Alex ill lend you my LSC so you can run it.

Next time we go I might take you up on that offer but you told me you need tires so you are on the same boat as I am. I'm planning on going in a couple weeks again. It felt great to be there again after so many years & I felt sooooooo tempted to race.

I don't mind loosing against my friend's TB SS. I just want to keep up with him. I need to prep my black '97 a little better. Wish I had the extra cash to do the exhaust, intake & fix the transmission pan leak on that car. Otherwise I'll be smoking as soon as I'm done running that car from the tranny oil falling on the exhaust!

Its a shame we don't live closer. I could bring my Gold one down for you to run them. They probably wouldn't notice the difference if you would tell them you put a new exhaust on it. You really can't hear the supercharger over the exhaust. And yes 4:10s are very street friendly, no need to trailer.

That would be very nice. A couple buddies of mine respect my choice in cars but there are 3 friends of friends that always show up to hang out with my friends that are always laughing at my cars & they even told me that if there was a remote chance of them liking one of my cars I ruined because it was the '93 & I sold it. I wish these cars had more power. Unfortunately our 16 year old barges can't keep up with today's BOG BOYS unless they are highly modified & I don't have the money to waste to do that.

hey alex when are you going to the track again...id like to take my car to see what it does.

I've got a horrible cold, otherwise I'd tell you to go tomorrow. I'd say 2-3 weeks. I will let you know. It's typically Saturday nights. We get there around 8pm & stay 'till midnight. It's the coolest time of the day so your car will run its best.
