1/8 mile time?

My brother wants me to take the LS to the local drag strip. Unfortunately it is only 1/8 mile instead of 1/4. What kind of times can I expect? I am really excited because he said it is like $8 and you can run as many time as you want on a test and tune night. This should give me the chance to try launching several different ways. D4 and SST mode and with A/T on or off in either mode. And of course he wants to run his 05 Dodge hemi pickup against my car. It sounds like fun to me but I don't have a video camera so I won't be able to get a video but if they print time slips I will post them. Hopefully they will have one of these test and tune nights next Friday (6-16-06).
 
1/8 mile runs are boring. You'll be done in less than 10 sec and probably still in 2nd gear.

Maybe but its the best I got unless I drive 3 hours to Memphis or St Louis. to a 1/4 track
 
What year car? 00-02 V-8 should run 9.7-10.1 @70-73mph. My best so far is 9.739@73.36 with the LSK Aluminum Intake w/KKM and the Magna-Flow exhaust. But my 20" wheels probably slowed me .1 in the 1/8. 03ups should be about .3 quicker, maybe a little more.
 
You should post your best N/A one there quick, is it the fastest 00-02 run so far? I haven't seen many 00-02 below 15s. I'll be one soon.
 
Completely stock. Cool, I'll love to see the numbers. 9.5-9.6 give or take. I've got one of rocket5979s 05 runs on my slip as we ran together. It wasn't his fastest pass but close. He hit a 9.346@77.96. Hes got a few tricks thou.
 
Thanks for the thread Quick. I just overlooked it because I didn't expect 1/8 mile times in it. I don't know anything about racing at a track or timeslips. And thanks 02LSE96LSC91SE84TC for the expected times.
 
i did a 9.7 @94 with a 2.2 60 foot time. u get up to the end of 3rd gear. its quick but its still fun. 00 v8 with kkm and worn rear tires at the time. so i`m guessing a 9.6 is possible.

wow i think u messed up ur time, otherwise ur car is a beast from a roll if it gets up to 94 @ 1/8 mile...
 
i was about to post the time slip but i think i left it at work in my locker from when i was boasting on my 60 foot time.. lol. i`ll get it and post it so the exact numbers can be seen.

There is a tag on the rear pumkin, it should be pretty easy to read. There will be alot of numbers but 3.31 or 3.58 should be evident. I only ask because some of the earlier 00s had the 3.58 before they all went to 3.31 from what I understand. Nothing to take apart, just have to get under and look, no biggy if you don't care too.

03up were 3.58s.
 
lol.. you called me pumpkin. not even my grandma ever called me pumpkin.. but i`ll look though.. lol.. thats funny, but you probably gotta break it down some more since i never really had to deal with rear ends.
 
Mine was 9.929 at 72.72 mph on a horrible track known for very poor traction, and it was August in AZ, temps were still around 100 if I remember correctly

I laughed my a** off for a few minutes there, almost fell off my chair.

The rear differental/pumkin, is where the drive shaft and the rear axles from the wheels all meet. It has a cover with bolts going around. Under one of those bolts theres a tag, it has the numbers. This pic is from my TC, but it should give you the idea. Its not that big a deal, but your 1/8mile numbers are solid, so I'm kinda wondering if your rolling my same gear ratio.

lol.. aight .. i thought it was somewhere in that area. i`ll take a look tomorrow when its bright again. hopefully i can find it because i wouldn`t mind knowing.
 
Well I finally went to the strip and here are the results from the five runs that I made.

My car is a completely stock ’03 sport with all the options except rear side airbags and rear adjustable headrests. It has 65,000 miles. I have about 80 additional pounds of stereo equipment and I weigh 235. I guess maybe I could go on a diet (haha yeah right) and that might improve my times. The problem I noticed seemed to be in take-off. The car has a bad hesitation but once it gets going it seems to really move. The people at the tack said they see that a lot with electronic throttle controlled vehicles. My best time was when I used SST but there seems to be too much time between the time I actually bump the shifter and the car actually shifts. Also I made all runs with A/T off. So what do I need to do to get the car in the mid 9’s without reducing weight? I figure I can start by practicing, but what else can I do? I got some pics. They aren't very good. The girlfriend was to busy talking to her friend. But one good thing is after running 5 times I was still getting 22mpg.:D

Get the SCT Flasher, an intake (KKM or K&N) and some Magnaflow Mufflers and then go back and see the results. The Flasher all but eliminates any Throttle By Wire hesitation and also improves low end torque and improves the shifts...

Also did you try brake torquing? Holding the brakes down as you get the revs up and then releasing the brakes and flooring it when the lights go out. This gets you in the powerband right away. Might be worth a 10th or 2.
 
I tried brake torquing once but it did the same thing. As soon as I let off the brakes the car fell flat on its face. I planned on buying the K&N intake from Ken next, but if the SCT will eliminate off the line hesitation, that might be my next purchase. The car really did seem to move once it got going. Two other things I forgot to mention. It was 97 degrees and about 80% humidity that day. People tell me that prolly played a toll on my times also. Do you think magnaflows will be very beneficial? I thought the 03+ cars already had a good exhaust system.
 
my 03 is slow as crap recently especially when it's hot out. those times are pretty bad and mine would probably be worse. if you have 0 power in the lowend you might check your coils.
