I have a 06 LSV8 and was wondering if the older LS manual transmisson would be able to fit ... I really would love my car a hundred times more if it came manual... Anyone do a conversion before?

The manual LS only came on early v6. There are no manual transmissions for the V8's.

The manual transmission only came in the V6, and the V8 has too much torque for it to handle. However, there was recently an auto to manual trans swap from a 5R55S to a 5 speed Tremec 3650 in the S197 Mustang, which uses the same automatic transmission as the 2nd gen LSes so I believe it's possible at least in the 2nd gens, it just depends on how much you're willing to spend. Here's the article: http://www.mustang50magazine.com/techarticles/m5lp_0711_s197_transmission_swap/index.html

I would think the bellhousing would be totally different on the 3.9

Dont get disappinted my friend, if your ride has shift-tronic transmission, then you can do this mod for your LS.

http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/tech/Lincoln-LS/paddle_shifts/index.htm

I wish I could have done that for my LS, but my ride is Standard. :(

That mod actually as far as I know never got past the R&D stage because the wires ran into the steering wheel would break over time. I saw the LSK car paddle shifter in person but they didnt work. plus the SST shifts slow as h3ll anyway.

Yeah I saw the mod for the paddle shift but to me I miss the clutch and shifting gears... Call me crazy but auto is to boring ...

I really enjoy shifting also, My first car was a 65 stang with a four on the floor and then I got new 80 stang witha turbo 4cyl, drove a couple auto trany's for a few news then drove a 80 280ZX witht he 5 speed for 17 years and then got the LS. Let me tell you that left knee dosen't hurt as much in the winter time now. I still have the ZX, so I do get some shifting time once in a whlie.

Seems like the whole thing is alot easier in a mustang, which comes with a 5sp manual... They say replace the harness on the engine so the it can accomodate the manual. Well, I don't' think they make one for a v8 LS.

I really wish this would be an option , but after a year of lack of aftermarket parts and the transmission makes me want to start lookin for something else. Im thinking RS4 :D

:P Giving up after a year? Lots of us have been waiting a long time for aftermarket, but yea.. probably best to just get something else.

Too bad the EPA and DOT require so much expensive testing. Also, IIRC, Lincoln only sold around 2000 manual cars anyway. People that purchase new Lincolns don't want to shift themselves.

Lol well the fact that since the car has come out nothing has really come out for it... Wheel option is very selective, to me if imma have a big body kind of car like this i want it a more VIP style car. Maybe coil-over supspension, some more aggressive looking body panels... Ik im going to get flamed for the kind of style I would want to make the LS but I guess thats why it probably wasnt the best choice for that style.
