A few months ago my LS stopped starting, I believe due to my only key being old so I think it died. I had noticed that the PATS light was flashing all the time, so I got an ELM327 and downloaded forscan, checked out my DTCs and I had one for the PCM that said that the wrong key was used to try and start the engine, so PATS locked down engine. I looked around and found a reputable guy on FB, Steve Hulett, who relearns, updates PCMs, and is a specialist at deleting PATS off of Ford PCMs. I sent mine off to be deleted, got it back and reinstalled, got two new Strattec keys cut. I did the Forscan key erase and reprogram service function, the PCM says that it recognizes that only the 2 new keys are recognized, but I still get nothing when I try to start the car.
I was told that our keys need to be stamped with S and not SA? Which my new ones of course are. I'm not sure if I have the wrong transponder keys, or whats going on now. I'm in over my head of what I'm capable of diagnosing and I'm honestly not sure what my next step should be other than order a new PCM from flagship one and start fresh. I also read a forum on here where a guy had a connection issue in his SSP1 I think it was, so now I'm thinking maybe I have a loose connection somewhere? It's possible, the car has 236k miles and I run 2 12s in the back
I had been having an intermittent crank no start issue for the beginning half of the year where it would sometimes not start for a bit. My solution was to leave the ignition in Run for 30 seconds to a minute, then cycle it and try again, sometimes it would start, sometimes I'd have to repeat until started. I do believe the PATS light was flashing, but I didn't know what that was at the time. It stopped starting all together in early July, then a few weeks later it stopped cranking over entirely, which is when I got Forscan and I've been trying to chase down this issue since
Sorry if this doesn't make total sense, I'm trying to just get my thoughts written down bc I've been trying to figure this out solo
