so i just bought another black on black ls,and i want to put on new tires, wanting to maybe go slightly bigger, what size's have you used without having any clearance problems, i have the stock chrome 17 oem wheels. both of them have 235 50 17's which i assume are stock sizes.

I'm on my on my third set of 20s. The offset will play a important factor. Try to stay with at least 38mm and up. I've had 35mm which is the lowest you can go but you will rub when you hit big bumps on the highway at high speeds in the back. My Sentas are 49mm and don't rub at all.

actually, it is 235/50/17.

And to get the OEM sport tires, the Firestone Firehawk LH, takes a pretty penny, and a long wait time.

I misread his thread. I thought he was wanting to go big on rims not tire on the stock rims.

I've used 255/45/17 on the stock wheels successfully.

no, wanting to keep the stock chrome rims
just wanting to put something a little taller side walled on it, not really even wanting wider either, we live in a rural area and the roads are not the greatest.
looking for smooth more then performance, its my wife's car and its going to need some tires soon......
thanks

Could go with 215/55. I ran that in winter:

In the end you end up with an almost equal amount of sidewall though. An alternate could be 225/55, but that would offset your speedo a little bit.

I have 245/50/17s on stock wheels without issue. Was worried when I was going to lower the car but I lowered it 2 weeks ago and have zero problems, not even any rub at full lock. The 245/50/17s fill in the wheel well real well too.
