Hi, I have a 2005 V8 Lincoln ls. It has a K&N Cold Air Intake, A Magnaflow exhaust with no resonators, and is running a custom tune by torrid with the SCT xcal tuner.

I have had the car for close to a year and have had absolutely no issues. I always use 94 octane, synthetic oil, and always check my fluids. The sparkplugs and coils were all replaced before I bought it.

Anyways...

I took the car to a tuning shop in my city and did some remote tuning with torrie on the dyno. we flashed the cars computer about 10 times. Everytime we flashed the car it ran off the battery for 10+ minutes. Everything seemed fine, I drove it home after the tuning and parked it. A day or 2 later I went out to go for a drive and it would not start. The lights come on, the memory in the steering wheel and seat go to there usual position. The dashboard lights up but the car will not start. I hear a clicking coming from the engine bay, I also hear something like a fuel pump enganging, but nothing happens. The red alarm moniter in the middle of the dash blinks rapidly and the car also does a long beep then a few quick beeps. I tried to jump start the car and had no luck either. I also flashed the car "back to stock".

I tried starting in neutral, checking all connections, etc etc.

Please help me out, I love my car and want to get it running again.

heres a video:

That long tone is something aftermarket. Maybe you have some aftermarket anti-theft thing installed?

You say the PATS light is flashing rapidly. Turn the key one and leave it on while the light flashes. It will slow down after a bit. When it does, it will flash out one or more two digit codes a few times. Count the flashes and post those codes.

A better test for a weak battery (if you have no voltmeter) is to turn the headlights on and then try to start the engine. If the headlight dim or flicker while you have the key turned to start, your battery or cabling is bad.

i agree, that beep is not from anything factory installed

if that beeping is a new symptom of the problem, i would start by tracking where it is coming from, and probably taking a look under the dash and around the ignition column to see if there is any kind of aftermarket alarm or immobilizer installed.

I'd like to say the "starter" is done but that would be too easy with the new long beep.

Relay going to the solenoid or connection issue.

Take it out of park and put it back in, try to start again.

Try your spare ignition key if you have one. (decoded key?)

Weak Battery, Anti Theft system,
clockspring bad and disengaging the theft sensor in ignition ?

reminds me of this video I found once, I laughed.

If you are hearing the click coming from the engine bay, then you are getting power to the starter solenoid but the actual starter itself might have seized up. Try to replace the starter. It happened to me after I turned the car off for a few minutes to drop off a TV. Went to turn it back on and nothing but 2 cranks and nothing more. I could be wrong since your PATS light is blinking rapidly when you turn the key, but even then should you be getting power to the starter solenoid if it's the incorrect key?

Id look under the steering wheel for an aftermarket box... may have to remove crash plate

hi guys, it started to snow here and the car was sitting in the driveway so i finally cracked and got it towed to the ford lincoln dealership. They called me same night and said they had no idea and the sound wasnt from the car, and that it was some after market alarm or something. Anyways I told them to look under the dash and see if there was anything and I gave them the go ahead to take out anything that was there.

turns out there was a gps immobilizer on the car from the dealership taht i purchased the car. in the midst of tuning and all the stuff I have been doing with the car it for one reason or another malfunctioned.

I am currently having it out with the dealership that I bought the car from because the car was bought outright with no financing and gps should have never been there in the first place. I am hoping to get the $300 the lincoln dealership charged me and the $90 for the tow reiumberced by the dealership.

thanks for all your suggestions

WTF kind of customers is this dealership used to selling to (not the one servicing the car now) where they need to just shut down any of their cars...

I would be super pissed with them and would be demanding them to show you where you signed when buying the car that they could use it to track you at any time. even if thats not what their using it for, if it have a gps system and a communication system, it very well could be sending out that information all the time or any time. they need to have a very clear privacy policy about that kind of ish!

Nice clean clear thought out vid. Glad you found problem and it was not anything big. What the heck is with that GPS tracker. I would be livid. Let us know how it turned out with the gps dealer.

Convict car or lady driven, sometimes, evil men put GPS in cars to keep an eye on where the bitch is going.

GPStogo is one company that I know of that will provide tracking services.

Could have been a rental at one point to, or even a salesman's company car.

but yeah, should have been yanked out at point of resale.

Grimm, did you buy it from one of those GHETTO dealers?
