I posted a duplicate, deleted the wrong one...here we go again

Two problems that I cannot find the answer to...

My left backup (reverse) light has no power at the plug. It seems unlikely that there is a fuse for this 1 item and everything else (electrical) appears to work.

Occasionally my blower blows hot...I mean REALLY HOT....air. Changing the temperature down has no effect. Not much of a problem now but in the summer, I'm not sure if I'll have 'cool'.

1. What exactly do you mean by "no power" and by "plug"?
By plug do you mean the bulb socket?
The socket should have one pin at +12V as long as the car is awake. The light is activated by the grounding of the other pin in the socket. Are you missing the +12V or the ground?

2. Almost certainly your DCCV is failing. Have you tried the DATC self diagnostics? (This may or may not detect a DCCV problem.)

No power to plug

First I bought a new bulb and it still did not work. So I used a voltmeter and there does not appear to be any 12V supply at the bulb socket. (Yes, I put it in reverse).

I tried the diagnostic test...push auto+floor, then auto. Nothing seems to happen. The display shows the temperature I had selected then shows outside temperature. Does not seem to diagnose anything. What should I see in the display?

+12V should be present at the socket even when not in reverse. Most likely you have a bad socket or a cut wire. Trace the wire back to its nearest junction.

The DATC diagnostic is entered by

Press and hold OFF and FLOOR at the same time. (not auto)
Release OFF and FLOOR at the same time.
Within a second or so, press AUTO.

That is good to know should I have a problem with my DCCV, I'll have to try it.

DATC test for 05

I'll trace the wiring back for a problem. One light works so I'm not completely blind.

My 05 does not have a 'floor' button but has a button that when you cycle through, it directs the air to body/floor/all or a combination of these. I saw that on a 06 the test is 'OFF+DEFROST, then AUTO'. I think my manufacturing date is June of 05 so maybe they used the 06 module?

I found an excerpt for the shop manual for a 06. Good information but is there a link for a 05 workshop manual?

Sorry, since you said floor, I assumed you had a gen I.
Gen II (03-06) all work like the 06 on-line manual says. Try that test.

No diagnostics showing

Well, I tried the recommended diagnostics and when I hit the 'auto' it shows the selected temperature and then shows the outside temperature, where it remains. No diagnostics.

It blew 'VERY HOT' today.

In a related thread, I saw that if you select a temperature of less than 65 (on mine it goes from to 65 to 60 with no settings between) the thread says it should blow 'cold'. Mine continues to blow 'hot'.

Looks like a replacement DCCV is needed. So, $150 for the part plus several hours labor...another $150?

Weird. It always works for me.

Anyway, not several hours of labor. It should just be one or a little more. Of course, you could do it yourself. No special tools required (but hose clamp pliers do make it easier).

This is exactly what happened when my DCCV went. But it happened as I drove through Georgia during a major heatwave.
