I was doing some looking around for a new used Lincoln LS as new car for the wife. I wanted a '06. BUT I found this '04. It is an LSE fully loaded with only 6600 miles. The dealer is selling it for $2500 under Kelly blue book. What do you guys think?.....Deal or no deal?

I like my 04. It's the LS Sport Ultimate. Has the same wheels.
Bought it in march for 19,000.00 with 22k on the clock.
What's the kelly blue book on it?

Kelly blue book is $24,250. The wife wants to offer $22,000. Take or leave it walk away. Give them soemthing to think about.

I would probably offer less. I have seen 2006's going for $22-23K.

Offer $20K and possibly get it for $21K.

I get all my cars at the Ford dealer auctions and see how crazy the markup is on these cars. They get them for dirt cheap.

Not always...If you watch manheim the cars do go for a good price but they usually come into the dealership needing tires, brakes and a good detail which the dealer has to pay for... For example at our ford store we have an 04 lse black on black with like 49,000 and they want $19990.. we only own it for $17600

A bit high. In this market.. (low demand car thats no longer made, etc) I'd go 20,500 tops.

im pretty sure not much if anything has changed from 04-06 so i wouldnt worry about finding an 06. that 04 has ridiculously low miles and if i had the money would pay as much as 21k. just my .02...

There are very few differences between the '04 LSE and the '06 LS. Rain-sensing wipers and the all-red LSE tails were the only things you could get on an '04 that aren't available on an '06.

That looks like a sweet car, but I think the price is a bit high. For that money, you should be looking at an '06 with moderately low miles; I'd say closer to $19K would make it a good buy.

Neither my '04 nor my '06 have been particularly problem-prone, so the warranty may not really be that big of a concern, but it's something to consider. You have lots of miles left on the factory warranty for that '04, but you'll have very little (if any) of the four years left; a similarly-priced '06 will have fewer miles left on the warranty, but it'll have several years left.

I did some research. I found, if the car has not been sold to a private party. The FULL factory will be in place. Meaning, even thou it is an '04. The warranty will not actually take effect till the car is actually sold to a private party. As for this vehicle, I haven't been able to reach anyone at the dealership yet. The dealer is in BFE. So I will plan to take your guys advice and low ball them at $19k and work from there. :D Things go well. It will be sitting in my driveway tomorrow afternoon.

Yep I agree, you can probably get it for right around $20k.

When I bought my 02 LSE retail was 25,1xx, Private seller was 21,5xx, trade in was 19,5xx. I got it for 19,900.

I have done a pretty good job of gettin my cars within $500 of Kelly Blue Book trade in. They likely got it for less than the trade in and really only need to make a little more.

Edit: that mileage will be what they will use to try get more.

Low 20's seems to be a good offer, thats a hard car to pass up especially with navigation. My '03 LS8, with nav and parking security package was about the same price in October of '06.

It's a demo? Jump on it. It is really worth it to have the full warranty, plus the free maintenance that Lincoln provides, only to the first owner. I am not sure how long that free maintenance lasts for a 2004 model in the USA. At some point it dropped to 1 year, but it had been 3 years prior to that. Lincoln Canada still offers 4 years/80000 km. I bought a 2002 as a demo (in 2005!) and had probably $2k worth of free maintenance work done: oil changes, trans flush, front and rear brakes, even windshield wipers.

You can check if the ticker is running on the warranty yet by calling Lincoln with the VIN and asking them for the in-service date. Don't necessarily believe the dealer.

Kelley Blue Book is average dealer asking price, not average sell price so you should always be able to beat by $2-3k. One way to find out "real" price on a car is to call your bank's loan officer and find out what the loan value is.

Even if the car is a one-owner you should be able to get the dealer to certify as a "premier certified pre-owned" which extends warranty to 75,000 miles and 6 years. If the dealer won't certify a car with only 6,600 miles there is something wrong they're not telling you.

I got my '04 LS, with <30K, for $18,600, in the upper end of very good condition(bordering on excellent) Certainly in excellent running condition.
It was on the lot for $21,999, and I went in at 20K out the door. Knowing how long its been sitting can give you an idea of how motivated the dealer is to move it. In my case, it was on their lot for a year, and they jumped at my offer, even tho they had over 19K into it, they needed to move it.

The dealer sold it saturday.:( Should have known. I couldn't get through on their phonelines all day.
