How many amps does your factory car have just one? i know the one that powers the 6x9 deck but does that power the door speakers as well? does anyone know the specs on the factory amp? i added new 6x9 and im looking to add a new amp to the car.

just pull down the rear deck lid cover from the trunk, the amp/amps should be there. im pretty sure theres more then one but i could be wrong

they are 2 amps, the rear deck one is a 100 watt (50watt per channel) 2ohms amp and that only powers the sub, on the left hand side of your trunk if you remove the covering there is where you will find the other amp this is 4 channel amp 200 watts (50 whatts per channel) running at 4ohms.
all the crossover is being done at the head unit and you just cant replace the amps the HU wont allow it to go higher valume what you have to do is keep factory amp and use the HIGH outputs (that goes to your speakers) and plug that into the new amp HIGH inputs and if your new amp does not have HIGH inputs then you need a converter to turn that into LOW. but really the THX sounds amazing why would you want to mess with the clarity of that system.

I agree, bass is nice and it sounds better than my '04 TL's Bose system by far.

thanks...the reason i added new 6x9 is to try to get the highs out of them but i now realize i have to replace the amp. How tough would it be to get a 300-400 watt amp and wire all the speakers to one amp?

Ok here is the deal:
1.) The factory head unit controls the frequencies leading to your 6x9 amp. This is why you do not get any highs out of your new speakers. Replacing the factory amp with an aftermarket one will give you the same results. Since no high frequencies are being delivered to the amp it cannot amplify them.
2.) Replacing the factory amps while retaining the factory head unit will be difficult. I do not believe the factory head unit uses standard RCA connections to transmit music to your amps. Without that connection it will be difficult to hook up an aftermarket amp. If by chance it does use the standard connections replacing the amps will be very easy.
3.) The factory 6x9's are 2Ω and the Alpines are 4Ω. This means not only did you not get the high frequencies you wanted but you also cut the power to those speakers by half (factory amp is rated at 50watts x 2 channels @ 2Ω, at 4Ω it will only put out 25watts to each speaker). Unfortunately those 6x9's do not work properly with your system.
4.) In order for you to replace the factory amps with one amp it will need to be a 6-channel amp (4 door speakers, 2 6x9's). Those are not very common. And you still haven't solved the problem of connecting the HU to the amp.

Your best bet will be to put the factory 6x9's back in and replace the door speakers.
If you do replace the door speakers be sure to get 4Ω speakers with at least a 50watt rating. Also, be sure they have a high sensitivity rating (~93 dB).
If the factory amps have RCA connections it will be easy to replace them; if not, don't bother with it.
If you have the money and desire; replace all factory equipment (HU, amp, speakers). If you don't, just keep the factory system and properly tune your sub so that it is not overpowering your factory speakers.

yup n8bachelor is right but replacing the amps is not that dificult, the cheap way is to get a pair of RCA wires cut them and splice them to the wires that are coming from the HU if you need wiring diagram i can provide, the signal thats going to the amp is LOW so you can use it with any amp, now their is a way to add more valume to your system, get a 6 channel amp like n8bachelor suggested or 2 amps a 4channel and a 2 channel one and also get a signal high to low converter but they are amps out there that can accept both highs and low frequency, now what you do is take the outputs (HIGH) thats going to your speakers splice RCA cables on them, and plug them into the HIGHS inputs on your new amp and then wire up all your speakers to your new amps now you can make a kick ass 1000 watts system if you want.

I have 06 w/NAV THX system. If I was to upgrade, what speaker would you recomend for just the rear deck?

The rear deck speakers are sub woofers ONLY. Any speaker (other than a 6X9 free-air sub) would only play the bass frequencies.

I know that, thats what all the info says above. I looked for upgrade replacements and cant find anything.

i wouldnt recomend any speakers for the back deck since they are subs, if you look hard enough you should be able to find 6"x9" subs, i know MA audio used to make a set but you will also need a more powerful amp. you can lso modify the enclosure to hold somthing different like a single 8" sub with a different amp.

OK, read closely. I said that I know what the info says on this thread. I KNOW THEY ARE SUBS. I dont want to change the fact they are subs. I cant find a 6x9 sub. I wanted to know if anyone knows a brand or website that offers a 6x9 sub direct replacement but better than the stock one.

ok you can replace but you will come up with 2 issues.
1. all aftermarket 6x9 subwoofers are 4ohms and your amp is 2ohms so that will cut your output by half, if that is the case here is a good one for you.

2.now infinity makes 2ohms speakers wich will work great for you but in my experience since i had to replace mines the really low frequency wich are frequent in hip/hop and rap songs dont come out as clear or deep as the factory ones i guess cuz it was not really meant for subs or its just me being picky, well if you want to go with this setup here is a good one for you.

now by the way the 6x9 is really 6x8 if you try to put 6x9 in them you will need to cut a little bit around the whole to make them fit perfectly.

Has anyone tried to bridge the rear sub amp to 100 watts and just have a really good boxed sub in the trunk? The only reason I want to do this is sometime I notice my rear decklid making a rattle noise at high volumes and want to fix it but don't want to add any dynamat until I completely replace the entire system. Thanks

yup they are blown, get the factory ones from team ford they are really cheap now or get the ones that i listed above.
