After doing research it is true that you can upgrade your NAV. system with a a few discs. The only catch is your NAV unit has to be in certain digits. Before returning these discs back to the manufacturer (I have connects at a ford dealership) i actually burned them for others. It was a real pain to get everything needed. The seriel # you need is on the back of the NAV. unit. If it was made late enough you will be fine. I have full instructions and the discs to do the process. PM me if you would like more information or are intrested. BTW all the bs was worth the crystal sound of sirius :-)

So the 03 ls w/ nav didn't support any satellite radio or just XM? XM and Sirius will be merging soon as long as the FCC approves.

Actually, FCC has to waive regulations stating that the satellite licenses must be owned by different companies, and the Justice Department has to approve the legal matters relating to antitrust because the merger is essentially creating a monopoly. Overcoming both of these will not be easy.

do you think the discs will work with the 05 ls nav? if so, i may be interested in upgrading my system. thanks

most 05's work out of the box, no software update required. I have 03 w/AL at the end of model # and none of the upgrade discs would work.s

an 05 with nav should already be all set. Plugging in the Sirius box PIN should turn your fm2 into SAT1

Is it possible to use a later 03 nav unit that is upgradeable in place of an earlier non-upgradeable unit?

I bought an 05 unit but haven't had time to hook it up. should be no prob.
