Went from a roll to 70ish before she gave up, never looked at the speedo, just got into 3rd abit. To my surprize a older lady was driving it. From the light the Bonneville took off abit quick so I did too, and then it was on. I had know idea who was driving it as I pulled a 1/2 a car on it immediately but then it was pretty much even with me just pulling a few more feet besides the initial pull ahead. When the LSE hit 3rd the Bonneville started to fall back just enough for them to give up. I had no idea who was driving it till she passed me afterwards.

Look out for Grandma, shes in a hurry to get the Christmas shopping done.

Were you, by chance, near Pasadena? :D
Parked in a rickety old garage
Is a brand new shiny red super stock Dodge

It was kinda funny how it happened. My wife didn't say anything till I had brought it back down to a more normal speed, then she said "Our you racing someone", from her seat she didn't notice the other car. I told her "Yes you just didn't see it cause I pulled ahead", then the old lady passed and my wife questioned me, "You were racing the old lady?"

You know it's funny when that happens. I get the same questioning from my wife, plus the dumba$$ look. But it's fun as he// when she's the one driving.

lol..yea i go thru that same thing with my wife. never had too much stoplight action though, but everyone wants to race me now since i put the 20`s on. :-s. my wife did test me one night though. i was driving her 00 deville and she was driving the ls and somehow she started to pull away with the 20`s on. so i`m guessing i didn`t loose too much with the extra weight of the rims. still dont know which car would win h2h full out.

There's only one way to find that out my friend. Just depends on which one you want to be in the drivers on.

That bonneville was probably an SSEI which is a supercharged 3.8L V6. If it was a bonneville GXP and they were racing, it would have walked away.

I have had the LSE for about 4 months now and nobody ever wants to have a go at it.

I have the same problem most of the time. Except for the ricers. Their always looking for something, or a co-worker.....I have met Ken (Gray ghost) a few times coming home from work. But the one perfect time we had, I was stuck on the phone with my mother and my bluetooth was dead.

I might have to wait until spring, weather is kinda crappy here in Cleveland this time of year. Hopefully I will have a few mods by them too.

i hear that my friend. every other time we had before the rims, my wife was driving her car, and she is afraid of the deville when it gets to about 5k rpm in first.. lol. cant blame her though. soft suspension 275hp and 300ft lbs of torque may get you scared if you dont think you can handle it.:D maybe one day :)

You serious?

Are you joking. SSEI, isn't that from a few years back, I know what the last Bonnevilles look like and to suggest the 275hp Northstar would run on me is stupid. Actually the race was exactly as it should have been, I pulled slightly off the line and overall.

Just an FYI on the new Pontiac Grand Prix. The new 2007 GXP comes with the new LS4 5.3L V8....rated at 303 hp / 323 ft-lb. 0-60...5.7 sec. Comes with paddle shifters on the wheel, heads up display. Boasted as out performing all other cars in its class...Infiniti G35, BMW 330i, Maxima 3.5. I saw one on the road today and it looked pretty nice, very sporty. GM now gives you a 100K mi. warranty. Starts at $29k. Not a bad deal.

about the new Grand prix. I was looking at them becauase my gf is getting a new car and pretty much told me to narrow down a list. I read a few reviews that said you're better off going with the GT version with the supercharged 3.8 because it still offers good power (about 250 hp or so), it gets better gas mileage, and they said the torque steer on the v8 model was so bad it was almost scary. I think if they made it rwd with the V8 it would be a very nice car.

You know, Acura controls the torque steer in my TL through electronics. I have to admit..it flat works. I turn it off, and it's noticable. I turn it on, and it's straight as an arrow with no noticable loss in power. I have no idea how they do it.

I think that Grand Prix has larger wheels/tires in the FRONT to help control Torque Steer.

Sounds cute.

But I'll stick with RWD for performance reasons. There is a reason why companies such as BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Ferrarri, Lambo, etc...don't even make FWD vehicles..

Nice, but the big drag is that it's a 4-speed auto with Front Wheel Drive! We Build Excitement? Yeah, right.

Now I'm not a GM guy, but the Buick Lucerne and the new Cadillac DeVille look very nice, and I would considering purchasing one, but they also are FWD with a 4-speed trans. That's the deal-stopper for me. I want a front engine, rear drive (or AWD) vehicle with at least a 5-speed.

Joking??? What mods are on your first gen LS? ...the weight of the two cars are within 100 pounds (favorable to LS), but the first gen LS has 252hp and 261 ft/lb of torque, whereas the bonne has 275hp and 300 ft/lb of torque stock...

but I am not bashing the LS at all...the LS is such a nicer car!

FYI, the SSEI's with a few bolt on's will outrun the 275hp Northstar and the LS as well...Moving from a supercharged/intercooled/chipped grand prix gtp(same engine as the bonne ssei), I am very familiar with both cars.

overall, I definately prefer the LS!

I'm not stock probably around 290-295HP,but I don't think even a Gen1 stock would get killed by it, I guess beat, but not killed. I know the supercharged can mod easy, but I doubt Grandma was packing mods and think I would have pulled faster on the supercharged. I'm qiute sure it was the Northstar. I have raced GTPs with my 1st MarkVIII which was slow compared to my latest MarkVIII and my LSE, and stuck right with them.

Isn't the Northstar a 4speed trans, the 5speed in the LS and its tighter gear ratios makes up for the slightly less it may have when stock in this situation.

:q:q:q:q my ls is pretty stock, and i'm pretty sure i could take a bonaville. I have 2.5inch exhaust on my car, not the 2.25 that everybody does. I raced my buddys 350z w/CAI and i was right there. he beat me but only by about a 1 car, but the 350 is a 14 sec car. All i know is my car isent that fast out of the hole (2.5 inch exhaust) but from like a 30 mph roll my car ripps.
