So, my ls drives fine in SST, but in D5 and reverse it doesn't want to move. I have it at the transmission shop (Highest rated in town) and was quoted $1900-$2400 without them even dropping the tranny. I have searched this site high and low for a similar problem without any luck. Before I had a rollback tow it to Northgate Transmission, I dropped the pan, fluid was fine, no smell and no metal shavings on the magnet. Any help would be awesome!

Thanks,

I think that in this case you would have been better off to take it to a Ford/Lincoln dealer. Given what you describe, it seems likely that it is either an electrical issue or a solenoid valve body issue. Fixing it should cost a lot less than a new transmission, even at dealership prices.

Yeah the dealers around here just wanna crack heads lol. I'm kinda at a loss with what to ask and or insist he checks in regards to this transmission, guess I'll just bite the bullet.

Thanks

Since it's driveable foreward in SST, drive it over to the dealership (or have it towed there).

I hope you don't mean fix the tranny at the current shop, without another opinion/check. Based on what joegr says it could still be cheaper to tow to the dealer. You still may have a problem after a tranny fix if it's really an electrical issue. Guess I don't know what you meant by bite the bullet...
