My ls is acting weird it just started stalling out and idling really low. when I put. It in reverse it goes a little and dies. It seems like it's also hesitant to go into gear. I'm so fustrated I think it
s coils but it has no engine light.

Your IAC has stuck closed. Tap it (Lightly) with a hammer, and it may work again for a little bit. You can clean it out and get it to work longer, or you could just replace it. Should be around $85 and is easy to replace.

Run hot as in how? I just drove it for an hr nd what I got it when I rev it in park the lights basically went out and I kno my alternator is going bad the regulator is messed up. The IAC is the first sensor on th intake after filter right. I just membered what IAC was but I don't kno where it's at on the car.

No, that's the MAF. The IAC is not a sensor, it's a valve.
Here's a picture of it.

Don't be scared by the price, I'm sure Max can do better than that.

Yea it's called the inlet air sensor though when u scan it so I canfused it with that. Also when I floor it studders then picks up but slow and also the whole flooring it in park nd making the lights go out nd charging light come on gots me stumped

I'm sorry, I can't translate all of that. Flooring it in park or idle will kick in the neutral limiter at about 3500 RPM and that will cause shaking.

When the brushes wear out on an alternator, the alternator can start failing at high revs because the springs no longer put enough force on the brushes to hold them against the slip-rings. Another possibility is a worn out drive belt.

I can't figure out what the problem is. Stop with all the abbreviations and just type in english.

My head hurts... :slap:

Okay a recap is the car idles at 400 then studders and jumps up to about 1000. It also studders when u floor it while driving and it picks up slow. I had it in park and floored it and it caused the headlights to go almost complely out. I know I have a bad voltage regulator in alternator it puts out high volts then goes back to normal. It may have completly gone bad now I haven't tested it in a while. Drive belt is new. It also dies when at a complete stop sometimes so I have to feather the gas to keep rpms above 400. I just noticed it dies most often when I put it reverse it will shift in and rpms will fluctuate more than normal then die. What's bugging me it now it's idling fine but all the lights dimming is pointing me to alternator not putting enough juice also I work with a 32 year ford mechanic who just got laid off a couple months ago and I'll let u guys know so u guys don't have to go through what I did.

if you know that the alternator is bad, then replace that FIRST, then try to figure out what else is wrong that you dont know yet. its hard to track down a problem if there are symptoms from something else going on at the same time.

Car runs better with new alternator but still studdering and I just got a check transmission code. Honestly I think tranny is done for. Hoping it's not though gonna take it to ford to get it looked at. Hoping it's at least okay for a little bit longer so I can drive home to Cali from Oklahoma love how it all came up when I have 2 weeks left till I leave.

Did you get the E on the Gear indicater? Are you still having the problem with the idle? Are you sure there are no leaks in your intake system?

What codes do you have.

V8 or V6.
