2000 LS Sport, 119.5K. so i was driving home from work today and i was stopped at a light. light went green and i hit the gas (not stomped) and the car went forward, then it revved up to like 6000 and then died down to nothing. more specifically, it was raining and the tcs went off first, then the messed up shift. then nothing, i tried every gear (D4,D5,R) and every gear was like it was in neutral.... i could rev it up but it didnt go nowhere. However, the SST mode (or manumatic or whatever) worked and i was able to get home shifting myself (although that thing isnt great). i had the shifter solenoid replaced in april and a similar thing happened before i had to have that work done. i tried to disconnect the battery but that didnt do anything. Any suggestions? could it be the shifter solenoid i had put in was bad? or could the tranny be dead? and if so why does it work in SST mode? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks..

never. especially after they charged me $700 to get an air bubble out of the coolant line. plus my mechanic used to work at the stealership, so he knows the cars. i was just wondering if any of you guys had any similar problems. its at the shop now so im waiting for the diagnosis.

This is EXACTLY what happened to my 00 LS8 at 118k miles. It missed a shift while under light throttle and then was like it was in neutral in every gear...but it would work in SST. I could even push the car backwards in d4 and d5. Even though it would work in SST, the shifts were somewhat delayed while using it. I drove it like that for about 3 weeks. You should of seen the look on people's face when I push my ls out of a parking spot and then jump in the door and drive off like normal!!!

At first I thought it was a PCM problem or wiring problem. Then possibly a linkage problem going to the transmission. I could not find any obvious problems with the wiring or mechanical (electrical engr here...dad's a mechanical engr)... After going to about 5 transmission shops, I came up with no definitive answer if it was a part broken inside the tranny or not. My guess was something related to the solenoid pack and/or servo bore. I ended up putting another tranny with 43k in the LS and haven't torn the old one apart yet to find the problem.

I will be having the original tranny 'built' once i get the turbo setup done so I will find out if something broke inside of it.
