MY car had the stock cap when I bought it. That doesn't fit the replacement btl. I bought a replacement cap thinking maybe the replacement btl had different specs or something. that doesnt fit bc the replacement cap is threaded the same as the stock cap. (which makes sense) this sucks

LOL, its a brand new Degas bottle. My problem isn't the bottle, its that the OEM and replacement caps do not fit it. The ID of the threaded portion is much bigger than the OD of the threads on the bottle so it won't screw on.

I had these same codes FOR A LONG TIME, tried to replace many parts. The plenum is gunked up, needs to be cleaned out. I had exactly the same codes, replaced half the EGR system, tried a lot of :q:q:q:q...eventually brought it to a mechanic to have other stuff done and he cleaned it out...

Check your plenum I had the same codes...replaced the EGR stuff (most of the parts in the engine compartment) and tried a few other things. I needed to get it inspected and cleaning out the plenum finally solved the problem - there was a lot of gummed up stuff in there. Haven't had DTC 171...
