It's your "Acc. Power" wire on your head unit that should tap into the RAP signal wire. Not the "+12 Power" wire.

If you have a Gen II, you can mount it where the "Valet" switch was on the Gen I's. I've contemplated using a switch for my subs as well, and if I choose to go that route, then that is where I will be mounting my toggle switch.
