So... bottom line when is enough?

I thought that the only thing I had not replaced in this car was the motor and transmission, but I discovered that it was eating tires as fast as I could buy a new set, more so on the back than the front. Turns out all the bushings in the control arms are either gone or going and she can't be...

    LS as a patrol car

So I finally retired in November after 35 years in law enforcement. Then I was made constable in my county. For those of you from other states, constables in our state do everything regular cops do, with the addition of having to serve papers in their respective precincts, and we are the only...

Benefits of the X-pipe on LS V8 exhaust

I went to my favorite muffler shop about a year ago. I was getting replacements from end to end, but the owner said that he had ordered a kit for a kid with a fox body mustang, GT40 or something like that. It had X pipes and Flowmasters and he offered it to me for 100 installed so I jumped. Bad...

    Finally figured it out

After replacing the fuel pumps, pressure sensor, filter, TPS, EGR, and PCM she is rumbling down the road again, and starts no matter what the temp. In the course it was also found that the many tune ups I had done, were half assed where evidently some of the plugs are hard to reach and thus were...

    and it continues...

More than I have room for. I went as they wanted me to pick it up yesterday. I gave them 569 bucks and drove it one mile. Now when I took it to them, I drove it like I always do between 80 and just over 100, yeah I know I am a cop yada, anyway, I get it back and it is running like a poppin...

I thought air temp sensor too, however they clear all codes and it starts like a new car so they thought PCM. BTW it IS at a reputable Ford Lincoln dealership

    and it continues...

So after all that the LS and I have been through with failure to start once cold, it apparently comes down to a part, the TPS, and 468 more of my hard earned dollars. So now, I have a new fuel pump, fuel pressure sensor, fuel filter and finally a TPS. Now according to them, if this is not it, I...

    Remember the two door?

Mine was a black 69 Torino, not the fastback version, standard blue vinyl interior, bench seat with white Hurst ball. Called simply Cobra by Ford was a basic stripped down Fairlane with 428 CID. The only markings on the car beside the FORD on the hood, were two silver cobras one on each side and...

    Remember the two door?

A car was only cool with 2 doors. I know you new humans think four is cool but in the day there was only one car with four doors that was cool, and that was a 68/69 T-bird who had taken a page from the Lincolns of old and used suicide doors. It also had the 429 Thunderjet to back it up. The only...

attempted to change fuel pump finally to hopefully stop the cold start problem, but..

Well the mechanic called, changed the pump and it still won't start unless coaxed thirty plus times. He is going to check other crap. I am no mechanic but should these symptoms not tell a mechanic what is wrong? How many things could be wrong with it?

On a good note, once I pulled the pump and jet pump I noticed it was nice and clean in the tank.

attempted to change fuel pump finally to hopefully stop the cold start problem, but..

Blue, everything is out of my range. I have more and better tools than most mechanic shops and twice as many as most contractors who remodel houses, and all of them new and pretty much unused, but like I said, I have more money than time, and the only knowledge of anything outside what I do for...

attempted to change fuel pump finally to hopefully stop the cold start problem, but..

Well for starters, the POS (piece of ****) was a car that was bought with 79000 miles by me from the original owner, a girl who's daddy owned the biggest Ford dealership in the area. Other than the multiple burns from her drunken college days and a crumpled passenger side headlight from an...

good then I don't have to worry about some more electronic crap that won't work when I get the POS back. Was worried about that.

attempted to change fuel pump finally to hopefully stop the cold start problem, but..

Thanks Joe, you are always in the know about these things and I wish I had your will power. As we speak it is on its way down the road. BTW what is the purpose of the seat belt buckle that you can't undo without a straightened paper clip?

attempted to change fuel pump finally to hopefully stop the cold start problem, but..

Disaster. Pump came complete with long hoses that go into fuel tank and socks and all kinds of crap. Back seat removal, first problem a seat belt that would not release, checked the forum and found nothing. SO pried on it and broke it. VIOLA it is released. Found link on fuel pump removal with...
