Somewhat rough idle ? (NO NOT COIL)

Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valves are famous for causing rough idlle. But, any EGR problem should trigger a "check engine" light.

Having a kid in two weeks. I need my ac to work! Help!!!

The '02 LS supposedly has a control damper in the air ductwork variously called a bypass or blend door. A warranty service ticket that I have calls it a "blend door". Replacement of its actuator ("Motor Assembly XW4Z-19E616-CA") corrected the unbalanced or hot one side cool the other symptoms...

Overheating in idle or stop and go

It is not too difficult to expose the bottoms of the rad, oil cooler, condenser group. Remove the air deflector under the front of the car. Then, there is a rigid black plastic cover spanning the coils from side to side to prevent air from by-passing. It is held on by 2 plastic christmas tree...

how do i remove my a/c compressor?

Great post, Joe! This orifice/filter thing may have been created by the fact that metering devices, orifices or TXVs, typically have integral screens not intended to fundamentally filter but to "screen" anything that may have escaped capture by the filter-drier before it plugs the metering...

    overheating again

overheating If your car is '02 or earlier with the hydraulic fan, very few shops will even detect a problem in their bay if you present with overheating problems at idle or stop and go with AC on in very hot weather only. The "here today, gone tomorrow" nature of the overheating caused by the...

    Blend Door Actuator

Many moons ago while still under warranty, my '02 LS had the "cool one side - warm the other side" symptom. The dealer said the blend door actuator was defective. Whatever was done, the problem was fixed. Can't comment on the out-of-warranty cost. Incidentally, the DCCV had been replaced...

Attn: Max....parts needed thanks in advance you are the man!!!!

Spring/shock mounts The part numbered 18183 in Mr. Zee's post comes with the metal plate, rubber coil spring isolator and bellows (boot).....what you see is what you get. You should be able to re-use the lower white plastic (delrin) spacer that fits the slant of the coil spring to the flat...

Classic slack chain/valve timing symptoms. But, does not rule out simpler, cheaper causes. Good luck.

    Glass Removal

Outside mirror glass removal REDBED has nailed it. But here is a little elaboration from a Tech Manual: !. Push the upper inboard corner of the glass to its limit of travel. 2. Grab the now accessible lower edge of the glass and pull outward. The glass is held onto the position servo...

    New tires...

Tires The Sumitomos that I bought for my '02 developed "cupping" after 10K miles in spite of alignment/balancing at installation. They are now noisy as hell. No more Sumitomos or Merchant Tire/NTW Service for this LS owner.

2002 lincoln lse rear bumper lower valance

Valence You are prpbably going to have to "bite the bullet" and order one from the dealer. I needed a front valence for the '02 because of hitting a thrown semi's tread. Salvage yards would not sell it off the bumper. Front plastic valence plus attaching clips: about $85.

Replacing the cooling fan pump actuator

Actuator The "Tom" method may be the most efficient and easiest way to do the actuator replacement. If the job can be done with the suction line on the pump, I agree that the bleeding step may be unnecessary considering that the actuator is probably on the pump discharge and fluid may...

Replacing the cooling fan pump actuator

Actuator Awesome report, Tom. My thanks again to the LS Forum Senior members for guiding me through this repair last summer. Great variation.....disconnecting the electrical above AFTER removing the actuator.

Replacing the cooling fan pump actuator

Actuator Good question, Tom. If you can remove the actuator without removing the pump suction line, you may be able to do the job without draining. Just keep a pan handy. Fluid does come out when the part is removed.

Replacing the cooling fan pump actuator

actuator Serph belt comes off first. Then, syphon the fluid from the reservoir. A little syringe with a vinyl tube can actually be slipped down into the suction line through the reservoir fill opening to get almost all of the oil out. Next, the alternator from below. You have to un-restrain...

    overheating issue- need help please!!!

Overheating The cap must be on the degas bottle to pressurize the system in order to get air out through the bleed valve. Close the valve before removing the cap to top off (carefully). Replace the cap and re-open the bleed valve while increasing engine RPM. My high speed was restored with...
