    Alternator dead?

Hmmm. Had the same problem last year. From my experience, the alternator goes out really quick when it's bad - only happened once the week after I bought mine. You'll certainly know since the car is so electronic heavy. My issue ended up being a bad cell in the battery. The dealership lied...

    Taking Apart LS Headlights

Good right up! I also snap off the plastic levelers on the back so they don't melt or get damaged.

Maybe Parting Out 2000 LS V6

I would have never made it this far (over 8 years) with this LS without this forum. But, the time has come for my LS. I'm thinking about parting it out. If anybody has any interest in any parts let me know. The following upgrades I've appreciated the most and have available: Premium...

    1st & 2nd GEN window regulators..

I don't think they're any differences. You should double check though.

    Oil pressure light on

LVC Beware I'm convinced that this problem is directly related to the recent change in filter size. I just finished inspecting and you can see that the problem is oil pressuring out of the sensor. I went and bought a KN filter for the car. It's the size of the original LS oil filter and look...

    Oil pressure light on

I'm having the exact same problem now. What exactly has to be done to replace the sensor? Does the power steering pump need to be removed? Also, before you experienced the issue had you recently had your oil changed? I'm asking that because in an earlier post I noticed that the new...

    Help with coolant leak

Thanks. Just replaced the reservoir today. It had cracks all over the place. Actually much easier than I thought it was.

    Help with coolant leak

Thanks. That's what I initially figured. But it just seemed to be coming from further back. The tank is a bit further to the right and the leak appears to be coming from directly behind the round apparatus. Everybody else on here mentioned having to replace the tank with the dccv and therm...

    Help with coolant leak

This car is really starting to give me a headache. Just finished replacing the DCCV, thermostat and hoses and now a whole new leak. I have no idea what this is coming from but was hoping someone on here may have a clue. If anybody has an idea please let me know 1st Gen, V6 - here are pics...

    Coolant bleeding problem!

I had the same problem for over a year and a few weeks ago I discovered that the bleeder hose was clogged. It's probably different on the V6 like mine but the bleeder stem into the hose (plastic of course) had completely deteriorated and was basically a bunch of plastic powdery gunk clogging...

    Mystery Coolant loss ??

Yeah, just went through this ordeal myself the past several weeks (months really). I suggest this too. I replaced all the hoses and the dccv. The dccv was the main problem but when I changed thermostat housing and hose assembly as well I notice that it was faulty too. I don't know about the...

Thanks guys. I'll shop for another filter I just try to always use oem parts. As far as the miles I drive a month, too ashamed to mention :)

    Oil Filter change???

Just curious. Has anyone else noticed a change in the Motorcraft FL400S oil filter? I just changed my oil and noticed that the new one was a noticeable bit smaller than the one of previous (and all other changes). I change my oil every month and have never noticed the filter ever being...

    making copies of the key

All I know is that the dealership made like 5 or 6 copies of my key and never did get them to work. I still need a copy made but don't have any faith in that dealership.

Pull the engine through the top?

Against my preference, I allowed a mechanic pull mine from the top. It's been over a year now with no real problems. The only thing is that the motor mounts should have been replaced. So, I know it can be done if done so carefully.

    CD Changer for Lincoln LS...HELP!!!

Tinkering is probably the best bet as stated. I bought an used one off eBay earlier in the year so that I could have the CD changer plus the Ipod adapter. After a few months all my CD's got stuck in there too. I think all the in-dash changers do that eventually. The kicker is they stayed...

    post up your ls's mileage

That's encouraging to hear. I'm around 129K today and running relatively good also on a 2000 ls, v6 though. Times are hard and I just took a job 75 miles out. I'm cringing over putting these new miles on my ls. I haven't even put 20 K on the car in over 2 years.
