    99 Continental Fuel Pump Probs

We are working on one at the shop where I work, we have replaced the pump & the driver module, did ok for a day and now its back to the same old problem of dying & sometimes not starting. The mechanic on the job said he could supply ground at the PCM output and it would start every time.

Good read on the 5R55 tranny harsh shifting.

$95.00 If anyone decides to do this make sure you go with one from the dealer & not an auto zone or other parts house re-man. My "new" PCM was a re-man from the dealer but was a superseded part# so apparently they are making some modifications to them in addition to just repairing the cores...

OK guys, results are in! I installed a "new" PCM from ford, it wouldn't start so I took it to the stealership, they flashed it (relinked the ICM). Now I am happy to say that my wife's car shifts & engages all gears perfect! I hope this info can help some of you.

Didnt work for me. Wish it would because the solenoids are a lot cheaper.

Good read on the 5R55 tranny harsh shifting.

I got the rebuilt one from 800700 but it made no difference, mine never slipped but reverse was super harsh & 4th was a little firm. I'm asking about this on another forum & someone mentioned resetting some kam while the solenoid body is out. If the new PCM dosent do the trick, I'll give that...

Good read on the 5R55 tranny harsh shifting.

Yeah, I see that but the article says 2003. I have a friend at a local trans shop that told me about the article, he actually drove my car to try and diagnose the problem & he kept correcting me calling mine a W or N every time I would refer to is as an S, maybe its some kind of misconception...

Yeah I caught that too, I noticed that it was a V6, thought that may be the reason but our interchange software at the salvage yard I work at says it too should be an "S".

Ive been through a few sets of coils, but never knew the coils interfered with the trans. I have had the ETC fails safe issue before but currently its not, just the harsh reverse.

Good read on the 5R55 tranny harsh shifting.

I just installed a tranny (used but recently rebuilt & tested) in my wife's 03 LS8 & while it shifts a little better than the old one it still slams into reverse even after replacing the solenoid body. Think I might try this next, I cant afford a new one but I would like to find out what the new...

    Confused about trans drain plug/spout

I can say that 03 is a split year, when I looked up my transmission on our computers & work it asked for a production date. 03 is a split year & I have the early 03 trans. When I pulled the spout out of the replacement trans I got the invoice from the yard I got the trans from, our software...

    Confused about trans drain plug/spout

Thanks for the posts & replys, I ran the VIN on the trans that I got & it was 2/10/03 & a V8 so I'm sure its the right one now. I asked a close friend thats a professionel builder about it & he said they should be the same. Its pretty obvious the replacement has been rebuilt, knowing that people...

    Confused about trans drain plug/spout

I had issues with my trans so I bought a used one, mine is the early 03 half year. I got to looking at the drain spout on mine and the new one & the new one is 1/2" shorter than my old one, that would mean I'd get less fluid in the pan. Has anyone ever heard of this issue? I looked for a TSB...

    Surging

My wife's car is an 03 V8 with 110k on it. She has been telling me about how it would miss at times so I started swapping coils, changed the plugs, then tried a throttle body. The problem continued and got worse, eventually it started popping from the right side and would at times stall out and...
