I would disconnect both, and wait about 30 minutes. in a situation like this it is better to take extra precautions just in case. An airbag to the face wouldn't be cool.. I dont know if it would apply to you. but my 2000 has a driver side airbag . I had to disconnect the battery since there is a part of the cloth on the inside of the seat cover that was attached to the airbag by some bolts.
