Am I safe as long as I don't turn the a/c on? I have no clue how long it's been leaking

I noticed oil on my a/c compressor. The a/c still works, so now I'm wondering if this is the root cause of my problem???

It's not the water pump... Checked mine today.

If its internal to the water pump would the pulley still wobble?

What about the water pump? Most of my problems including this noise started after the car overheated. Any thoughts?

It seems to be one thing after another here lately. The crack is one the other side of the upper radiator hose - starting at the top going down at least 2 inches (and then I can't see it due to other objects in the way). I was actually checking the work I did the night before when I noticed...

Oh. In trying to track down this noise I noticed my radiator is cracked.

Does the alternator or a/c compressor have bearings in the pulleys? It sounds like ball bearing.

It's not a tensioner problem...

My 2005 LS V8 is having the same problem. On a cold crank I hear a rattling noise for about 2 seconds – Then the car runs perfect. I’ve check all the pulleys, replaced the accessory belt and belt tensioner. Finally I took it to the local Lincoln dealer, and was told it was a timing chain...

I think I'll go ahead and buy a gas cap... I'm assuming they click for a reason, and mine no longer clicks. I'll see if that makes a difference.

I've noticed that my gas cap doesn't click like it used to, but if my gas cap was malfunctioning I would get a check engine light, correct?

So do I have a fuel problem? And if it is a fuel problem, what would be the noise I hear? I just want to make sure I'm not damaging anything. Also, why wouldn't this happen everytime the motor is started - Why limited to cold start?

I tried something different this morning... I turned the key to the on postion for 2 seconds and then started the car. No noise. So whatever take place in a motor quickly to lubricate the top of the motor is taking may car some time. Any ideas???
