    Alice: FDR's Build

I always wanted a build thread, so now seems like a great time. Nobody is here anymore, but the gravity well known as Facebook makes me want to have something searchable. Posts over there get lost in the timeline and you can't see the light. Before I get into that rant... I was going to wait to...

Poor gas mileage. Bad short term fuel trim

How long have you had the car? How's the exhaust smell? Any idea when the ignition coils were last replaced? For that 200 mile run, what kind of driving was it? One drive or multiple? 200 miles at 55mph (where the EPA figure comes from) is different than 200 miles at 80mph or 200 miles in hilly...

Anyone installed a tow hook on the front?

Found this in a bumper removal video of an 03 S-type R. So different support bar, and no sideways U-bar mounting. It's interfere with the longitudinal tube mounting face anyway. I wonder if it's only an R thing. Correction to the above, only Gen 1 Sport got the removable cover. Base (chrome...

Anyone installed a tow hook on the front?

Gen 1 (non-LSE) has the removable lower grill section, but there's no threaded receiver behind there. Just some flat plate with small holes that is also present on the driver side. Seems the same plate for all years. I never could figure out the point. Did a receiver get deleted sometime prior...

2002 Lincoln LS third brake light removal and rear panel package tray

The brake light cover just pops off, but it has some reverse hooks that take some massaging to release from the carpet. The brake light housing then lifts up, as I recall, with spring clips pointed down. Pop off the c-pillar covers, swing down the rear seat side bolsters which I think just...

    Rare lse?

Better than an LSE (in my opinion), I believe you have an aftermarket CDC body kit. It was the predecessor to the LSE kit. As far as I can tell, Ford bought the cast molds and made the kit into the 02 LSE trim kit before going to traditional injection molding for the revised gen 2. If so, the...

What did you do to your LS today?

Still working out this 05(-14?) Mustang all-aluminum, bigger than stock-LS radiator. It has physically fit so far with AC and the gen 1 hydraulic fan. First bleed did not bleed at all so I drained it all. I'm working on an adapter bracket for the modified lower mount since it's sagging on the...

Have any of you modified your wiring to make your fog lights stay on with high beams?

Re: forscan. At least on my gen 1, forscan could only change a very limited number of things. They were all modifiable in the V8's message center anyway. Pretty disappointing considering I first toyed with a 2nd gen fusion that had a couple hundred modifiable lines with a dozen changes tailored...

    2005 LS parasitic power draw

If you have LED tail lights or interior lights that glow when they're supposed to be off, they'll turn off fully when the car is asleep. I don't remember if the interior/trunk light timer is actually sleep rather than a separate timer. Frustratingly, pulling certain fuses may wake the car up and...

Lincoln LS 2000 and 2004+ tail light compatibility

Yes, they are interchangeable for fit and legal function. The only difference is Gen 1 features a 168 bulb tail light in the lower section of the outer tail light in addition to the 3157 tail/brake light combo bulb. There is a minor appearance difference as well since gen 2 does not have the...

What did you do to your LS today?

I washed it, looked at it, and dreamed about its future. All I've really done recently. My car hobby has taken a huge hit on 3 fronts: I haven't had space to be a shade tree mechanic in a few years, house hunting is my priority for all excess money, and, worst of all, I got into motorcycles a...

Lincoln LS tire fitment on stock suspention and 17" alloys

Maybe read up on what the tire specs mean before calling other responses stupid? The profile/series number (45, 50, 65, etc) doesn't mean anything on its own. All stock LS tire sizes are within 2% of each other's overall diameter. Your 235/65/r17 is 10% bigger than the OE size but my 285/35/r18...

    Lincoln LS Drift Build

Nice! I was thinking it was a new car, cool to see its the same one. I took a note on the 2018 Charger Police fan being brushless with ~14a startup. Did you cut into the quarter and door to give clearance for the rear wheels?

Idler pulley question for Electric fan swap

2: serp belt size change when you take out the hydraulic pump, you shorten the total length of the belt route. It's more than what the tensioner can take up, so choosing a shorter belt lets the tensioner work as designed 1: changing the idler looking at the gen 2 diagram, you can see the...

    17" 5 X 108 (4.25)) MODA RIMS

2013-20 Fusion rims are a good fit for the most part with similar widths, +55 offset, and even tire height. However so far the 18s I've seen needed a 3mm spacer to clear the face of the calipers due to spoke shape (nothing to do with offset) 1st gen fusions are the wrong bolt pattern, 5x114.3
