Just wondering what the best way to wire some led light strips into my footwells would be. Is it possible to wire it up to the cigarette lighter? Any other alternative. Any info will be much appreciated thanks.

mount lights
run power to lights
have switch placed into circuit
done

you can get power from the cig socket IF all of the lights you are adding AND what ever you will plug into the cig socket will consume less power that what the socket is fused for. if adding a lot of lights, i would get power from the passenger kick fuse box and fuse it there.

Couldn't you just go off the wiring for the foot well/courtesy bulb above the pedals? Or do you want the ability to turn them off and on?

This is the first time I will be doing something like this and just looking for opinions/advice. Im not adding a ton of lights but not sure how much power they will draw. Would like to do this as clean as possible. I will try to passenger side kick fuse box. Thanks

i placed red bulbs in the lower courtesy sockets because i didn't want to do any cutting or tapping. Yes they are only on with the rest of the interior

probably because if he just wanted them to come on when the door was open, it would be ten times easier to just replace the bulbs.

That's all I did was replace the bulb. Used 6000k LEDs all around in the interior. It's like daylight in my car. The wife likes it because she can read without eye strain, so I'm happy.:D

I was looking for the option to have a switch to be able to have them on/off as I wanted. But now thinking about it I doubt I will be doing much driving while they are on. Swapping bulbs seems the way to go but I already have the LED strips and a switch.
