recharge a/c

Does anyone know how to recharge the a/c on the LS? I'm new to the car guy world & I'm trying to figure everything out so I can be a "do it yourself" kinda guy. Thanks!

Take it to a reputable A/C shop. I am too, but there are some things best left to the professionals. Especially should anything go south!
 
If it's just low (not empty), you can do it with a set of pressure gauges (you have to monitor both the low and the high side) and the correct pressure temperature chart for your car. (I can supply for the LS.) However, you can't really justify the cost of the correct setup for just one or two cars that need to be topped off every few years.
 
When I bought my 2000 TC recently the AC wasn't working. I was very pleased with the service I got from Firestone Complete Auto Care. They found a bad relay which they fixed and also found that it needed to be charged. They added some UV dye to the system and after it leaks out again they'll recharge it for free as long as I have them make the necessary leak repair. Obviously if it leaked out once it's gonna leak out again. The service wasn't cheap - $330 altogether..... but I am completely satisfied with what they did for me.

Would you pm me the temp chart for a 2000 v8? I need to charge mine due to the engine swap. Forgot to ask them to do it.

Note that these are gen I charts. The pressures for gen II are different. Also, the engine is to be ran at 1500 RPM the whole time while checking pressures and adding refrigerant.

(2000 LS v8)

Q:I noticed today when I got my car back from the repair shop that the ac wasn't working properly?? Ive had the timing chains replaced and the termostat housing replaced with the Jag aluminum housing at the repair shop. I also noticed that the heat wasn't working correctly (set it 90) just wasnt blowing very hot, So I already know he didn't bleed the system correctly.

Would not bleeding the system correctly make the a/c not blow very cold?
Ive had extensive work on the ac system about a year ago and it worked great until these repair.

But if they did work on the primary chains they would have had to pull the front cover and most likely the AC compressor, maybe not charging it correctly.

AHHHH thank you I did just have this done a week ago im taking it back tomorrow to let the guy know of this thank you again that would make sense.
