I just purchased my LS two days ago for a very fair price. I purchased with the cel on being assured that it was on ever since he had the original 2000 motor replaced with one from a 2001. Seemed to run just fine until the drive home when it seemed to bog down and with a little gas would jump back to life with a quick burst after the rpm's shot up. Im not a mechanic in any way and am actually scheduled to get it in tomorrow but was looking for some input. The guy said it had been sitting a little while so I figured some bad gas and put some treatment in it but still the same outcome today, though when purchased it was on empty. Also noticed the oil level was on the minimum level but that still should have ran without much issue. Ive read about coil packs going bad and stuff but am unaware of what would happen if they did. Any advice is greatly appreciated. It did die on me twice when driving through town and less than 30mph but started right up both times no issue.

Go to Oreillys or Autozone and get the codes for the CEL pulled. They do it free. It could be any number of things. Thats where i'd start.

Change all the fluids except tranny, let the dealer handle the tranny. Change the coil on plugs. It may need a timing belt, but needs to be looked at. Spark plugs, etc.

Im going to get it looked at tomorrow completely... the guy i purchased it from though says he hooked it up to several computers but i threw no codes. I cant imagine that as it has to have some code wrong.

He was using the wrong code scanner.

The LS has no timing belt.

If the CEL is on there are codes.
