on my 01v6 rear sway bar links there is a protective cap that goes on the top on the sway bar link stud to protect the brake line from rubbing on the stud threads, (ya I know, bad design flaw) as eventually the threads would grind thru the brake line. SO after 140k miles the cap has worn thru to the stud threads, SO i want to replace the caps before the eventual happens. What are these caps called, or part number or where to get them, any ideas?

yes, its there.

The gen II V8 uses them too. (I assume that all LS's do.) Anyway, I need four of them too. Unfortunately, I don't know the part number either. The service manual just calls them "protective cap."

Protective caps

yes i have been also trying to find them since after changing the sway bar links to a heavy duty link mine were wore out also.
anyway i ended up using some gorilla duct tape to wrap them and also the e brake lines,my new sway bar links had longer stids that the caps floated on so the tape held them in place and stoped any wear, not the best fix but it works.
