Does anyone happen to have extra hood shocks with hinges? I know some people are parting out some LS' that might have them.

I just thought of a cool little project (not sure if someone has already completed) while installing my new drivers reg today.

Not looking to spend a lot on them, as I have no idea if they'll even work for this project.

Here's a picture... stole it from ebay.

I didn't post in sales area, because it seems not many people go there.

I have a set 2 hinges & 2 struts... still on the hood - $50 delivered

PM if interested

Pm received. I'll let you know. Kinda want something a little cheaper since I don't want to waste the money in case it doesn't work for what I want to do.

You may be hard pressed to find cheaper than $50 shipped for hinges and struts. But I respect your search for them at a better price.

Yeah, I know that's a good deal. But if they don't work, I'm just going to end up tossing them.

I'm tired of the way the trunk closes and how the arms always hits stuff when closing. I'm going to try and see if those would work like they do on the hood. Might have already been done in some form or another (I didn't search).

Lol. I think that would be a pain, considering how often you have to get under the hood.

It will be interesting to see how that works. The current setup is for the trunk lid to be counterweighted, so it may be hard to get it to move the way you want. One other challenge I can think of is getting a sufficiently stout location to hinge the lid on.

I was looking at it yesterday and it seems that mounting the hinge is going to be a challenge. I'm still going to try something. I know they do aftermarket kits for this project. I haven't come across them since I thought of doing this or if they have one that would work with are LS'.
