I am guessing this is a temperature sensor, on the back of the cylinder head, any idea where I can get one from? Since the motor is out, I am replacing alot of sensors. Haven't been able to find one....:shifty:

Nope, passenger side head. Cylindrical piece, with two pipes branching off, and there is a sensor on the back of it.

You need to learn to post pics!

I know, just to lazy right now to go outside so late in this cold and rainy weather! :p Well, it's the piece coming out of the passenger cylinder head, it's a cap in the back of the head and has two tubes connected to it, connecting to the heater hoses in the firewall. :D There is a sensor on top, and I need to get another one.

I assume you're talking about part# 18D371 in this diagram:

That's the cold engine lockout sensor. Part of the ATC system. It tells the computer when the coolant is warm enough to turn on the heater. First gen only. I don't know if it's available aftermarket, but Ford no longer carries it. The full part# is F1SZ-18D371-A.

Check with Max to see if he can locate one.

Otherwise, Boyde County Ford in Ashland, KY looks to have one in stock. (606) 329-2120
Green Sales has two: (800) 543-4959

With that said, you're probably OK reusing the one you have. I've never heard of one failing.

You don't need it; it's just for the blower fan inside the car - delays it until the engine heats up a few minutes. With it disconnected, the AC/Heater blower fan will start immediately when you switch it on.

Yup. When I upgraded to an 04 engine I decided to not use the sensor. Really no big deal.

Every Mark from my 73 up had one of these. It a nice feature, yet its not if you are fogging up. Only affects the system when in "auto" mode.

Ah ok, I won't bother with it then. Car should be up and running Sunday! =] Purchased heads with 90k on them, look real nice, and bought a reman crank, with matching bearings ford 270. Gonna make some keys for the cams so they wont jump time! Can't wait to fire her back up.
