03 LS Rescue!

I Have a 01 with a blown motor and a 03 with a smashed front. Saving the 03 from salvage!

Did the gen 1 front fet fine or did you run into issues with say bolt holes not lining up?

Also I see you are in Ohio, how much would you want for the front passenger rocker panel (black trim under door) of of the 2001

Manoli, is trying to find it for me but I think shipping may end up more than the cost of the part.

all you need to swap will be the headlights and bumper cover ( i suggest an 06) and it'll look just like a 2nd Gen.... There are a couple threads on filling the gap for the headlight switch....

Make sure you look around (search with google) before you post... should find everything you need here.... Enjoy

Nice work man, also wondering about the color unless you're really diggin' the paint scheme. Just out of curiosity, while the entire front end was apart did you happen to do some preventative maintenance with the easier access? I'm more curious as to what wheels those are, the look awesome!

i have some ideas on colors. but thats a few months down the road. i gotta get it salvaged inspected and then im doing some more to it. i dont want them giving me any problems on anything. i custom paint and airbrush too so hopefully it will turn out sweet. private message me on parts off the 01. ill probably be parting it off here in a few weeks after the inspection. gaps line up great. wastoo bad if u can weld. the 03 airbag bracket is different so i gotta take it off the wrecked core support and weld it on the other.

the fan shrouds are diffrent too. but radiator and a/c condensor work.

The actual fans are quite different. '01 is actually a hydraulic motor, '03 is electric. If the '03 fan was trashed, you'll probably have to get a replacement from a yard. They tend to pop up on eBay also.

i got a 03 fan and shroud and water neck being ordered tomorrow. should be in by monday or so. also thanks everyone for the welcome. ive been a long time reader of this site just never signed up as a member until now.

Looks good. Did you have any issues connecting the headlights?

thats gonna be mid next week. me and my boss started looking at what we could do today at the shop. being the its a totalled car and im planning on dumping at bunch of $ elsewhere im not really wanting to spend the $400 to $600 a pop for the headlights. we are thinking that we are gonna cut the pig tailsoff the 03 broken headlights and splice them into the01 headlights. that way i dont have to cut anything on the 03 wiring harenss and i can buy the 03 hid later on if i want to. im thinking of poping the lenses and clearing the turn lens to get that 03 look.

Splicing them would be the cheapest route for sure. I know when I did my swap from gen 1 to gen 2 headlights I bought a connector so I could go back to stock if needed.

yea thats the best idea we thought too. i figured id just buy a hid kit and put them in. the prob im with now is i have 1 with the grey glue and 1 light with the black glue. dont know if im gonna attemp to open the black glue 1 or try and trade it off with my old hids for a grey 1 for the drivers side.

with no leaks, I thought about spraying my degas bottle with the rubber, what is that called again. maybe that could fix all of our coolant leaks with spray on rubber hahaha
