Help!!!!

i have a 2003 lincoln ls v8 wit 162,000 miles. when u first start the car when its cold out it will not start but when its warm its starts fine with no check engine light on at all...when the check engine like does come on it shows a code of p0606 and says etc safe fail mode.. i replace battery i changed fuel filter i changed engine coolant sensor also changed crankshaft sensor and it still does not start when it cold. can someone please help me if you have had this problem

Welcome to LVC. Have you had the MAF(Mass Airflow Sensor) cleaned or changed out? Not saying this is the issue but could be a step in the troubleshooting process. Additionally, when is the last time the spark plugs have been changed?

It's the PCM. It has a bad solder joint. (Most likely)

Never and yes i changed the plugs about a month ago...the throttle i brought but the car still ran rough after that come to find out it was three coils and then everythg was ok now it wont start in the am when car is cold...when its warm car cranks fine....

I would go with Joegr's expertise based on the safe fail mode the ecm is entering into.

I received this on my 2003 v8 also. i took it in and they replaced my egr valve, my water pump, and mapping sensor. It fixed the "engine fail safe mode" message.

Did you have P0606?
There are more than one fail safe mode.

There's fail safe cooling.
There's ETC fail safe.
There's PCM fail safe.

This car is driven me nutts....still no start but check fuel pressure this morning since car wasnt driven since yesterday...no pressure cycle switch coolant fans running..cut it off than on coolant fan still on...once again coolent fan off fuel pump kicks on than car starts...as long as coolent fan running fuel pump wont kick on...please someone help me...

Did you have P0606?

Sorry for late reply havent been on here..its says etc failsafe but check engine light is on wit several diff codes...none thats causeing problem but one does say pcm fault and fuel control out....change gaskets four coils fill wit oil...

I assume that you haven't changed the PCM? I still think that's your problem.

Here's a thread about someone with similar symptoms. The end result was reprogramming of the PCM.

Instead of ignoring the advice you got in this thread a month ago and expecting something to change how about to you look into following up on some of it? Joegr has the most extensive knowledge of these vehicles that I've ever encountered. Seriously consider acting on his suggestions; they've helped me repeatedly.
