Hey all, i just recently purchased an 02 LS v6 manual with the LSE package. totally love the car. it throws the code p1414 for the secondary air injection pump. i cant find anywhere that will show where the pump is located and how to replace it. any help? i tried the search function on this forum but wasnt successful there either... new to ls'...other than this and other random problems (window regulators, door handle, suspension...everything) its a great car.

The pump is electric. If I remember its in fenderwell. Also I bet is the little black soloniod right in front of the engine down low. Its mounted on a metal bracket. This unit splits open and can cause problems, mine was toast. Take a look at it.Only like 20 buck i think at ford.

how do i get to the smog pump? can i access it from above, or do i have to go in from under the car? the engine bay is tight on these cars, makes things difficult, especially coming from an f150.

From under. Look where I told you and follow the black air pump feed tube back to the pump. It connects to the one way valve right up front of engine. Make sure to check solonoid.

OMG!!!! Someone within 5 hours driving distance of me with an LS! AND it's a MANUAL!!! I was beginning to wonder if it'd ever happen. I'm near Chico if you're ever up this way....

OK, now that the excitement is over, did you find it yet? If you haven't I can see if I can locate mine and take a picture of it as I have an 01' V6(non-LSE you lucky B*****D!).

Lol yea I found her off Craigslist in sac for dirt cheap ($1500). Dude didn't know what he had, and I have always had my eye on these. It's in rough shape, wasn't taken very good care of, mainly cheap repairs after an accident so the suspension is pretty much toast. :/ It's difficult I live in an apt so doing work on my car has to be quick and easy. And yeah, Chico you say? I went to Chico state for my undergrad b4 moving to sac to work on my graduate program. So I'm a dirt poor grad student with a best up (but beautiful) car with an average abilIty for DIY repair work. I'll get pics posted soon, just as soon as my phone stops being finnicky.

I would have bought it for $1500 as long as it was repairable. I drove out of state two years ago to buy mine and paid $3525 for it. I've repaired quite a bit on mine too but nothing suspension as of yet. Maybe I'll do the sway bar bushings, oh well.

If you're ever up this way we should have a mini meet. I'm almost never down in the sac area, sometimes I'm in Lincoln which isn't to far from sac.

Oh yeah, totally repairable. Things wrong with the car are mainly just due to neglected maintenance and not caring. Things like window regulators (2), drivers door handle, smog pump and brakes, the dccv, cops and a bad wheel bearing. The front suspension is outta whack from a previous accident that was repaired on the cheap, so it just makes a lotta noise but is otherwise totally drivable. Despite that, I LOVE this car.

And yeah ill hafta make a trek up to Chico one of these days and say hey. I make frequent visits to Lincoln too actually, family, casino, etc so that could work as well. Good stuff
