Orginal Lincoln Keychain?

i have this key chain and the guy i bought it from said it came with the car when it was new but didnt know anything about it. On the front it has the lincoln symbol and on the back it has a number and says drop in mailbox if found. Does anyone else have these and if so whats the story behind them?

i remember when i bought my 94 way back!!! in 97 it came with this keychain the salesman told me that it was registered to the original owner, just in case if they were to lose their key. "Hopefully" someone would be kind enough to toss them in the mail, and get their key back!

I guess it was a good idea, at the time. Now, unfortunately, you'll be lucky to find someone decent enough to even bother.
