Power steering pump help....

Well, just one more tiny problem, (hopefully the last problem!) keeping me from driving the mark. :mad: The line that screws into the pump, one that you can turn and what not when tight, looks like an L, is bent a little, and it's leaking fluid. Thinking of going to the junkyard tomorrow and seeing if I can find one, which I should. What cars/trucks would have the same line(besides thunderbird apparently)? Looks like this, but the end is flared.

Dealer sells that piece still. I got one for mine for $15 (jobber price though) but I'd imagine it'll still be reasonable...
 
Haha, woops maybe I should look more at e-bay ads. =/ Sorry bout that! Hmm guess I'll go to the dealer tomorrow and see what I can find. Rather have it the same day though.

You can get an aftermarket one also at many parts stores or Rockauto for a good price . It is a readily available part. . You will poop your pants when you hear the Ford price.!The Ford hoses are better constructed though

You can't use one from a JY anyway, it has a Teflon ring on it,
Making it a single use hose
 
It's flared at the end, the process for building one is to flare the end, place the Teflon ring on the metal tube, then slide the hose in the tube and crimp, you won't get a new ring on without scratching it, when it's scratched, it leaks

I don't think a PS hose assembly is something you want to pull out of a junk yard. It is a fair amount of work to replace the hoses. A JY hose could easily leak very soon after installing it.

He's not looking for a hose,its a metal pipe.
 
So, if I am correct, and understand what y'all are saying, there is an o-ring on the tube, and it is slid inside the piece that threads into the power steering pump? Well today, went to a junkyard in Texas, and couldn't find it, finally did and showed up 15 min to close. Payed 3 dollars to go into the yard...told me i had 10 minutes to pull that pipe, and if not come back tomorrow, least could have let me stayed until after close to get the piece I need. Pretty much were douches and when they asked me "you think you can get that off in 15 min" I thought it was insulting. Tried to explain I was out of state and had a hard time finding it, but guess that wasn't good enough, oh well.

Correct. When the tube nut is tightened down and now stationary, the pipe can now swivel. If the pipe can swivel it has to have O'ring to seal inside tube nut.
If you have any unit that when tightens down does NOT swivel there is no o'ring inside the tube nut.

Well, that sucks. How in the heck do I remove the o-ring then? That nut isn't going anywhere.

You cannot change the internal O'ring. You can and have to replace the one time use only, outside teflon o'ring. If the inside rubber o'ring is leaking you need a new pipe.

is that the return line to the pump?
that seems like a silly way to build the pressure side.

Well, it is the internal o-ring. It's leaking in the middle of the nut coming down the pipe. So, guess a new pipe it is.
 
i replaced the whole high pressure line on my Mark for alittle over 30 bucks...it was hell but i managed to get 'r done without dropping the k-member...i forgot how i did it though, just remembered alot of cursin' and tight spots only.....
