Heads up.....I am looking for verification and not speculation.

Joegr is actively helping me out but does anyone know for sure that the bottom end of the 2001-2002 Jag S Type is the exact same as our 3.9? I have finally tracked down a new 2001 Jag S Type oil pump for my new motor but do not want to risk it if not able to verify. This one is important so I would like to keep this thread, if at all possible, to what I need to know. Time is against me as my car is in the shop and I am leery of putting the 2003-2006 new oil pump I found on it.

Any definitive proof, with supporting evidence, would be appreciated. Ford's website is saying there is indeed a difference in the Gen 2 pump so finding the Jag 4.0 could be my saving grace if it indeed will work.

Thanks in advance members....

would there be anyway to cross reference the part numbers for the gen one pump and the jaquar pump, I'm sure may have looked at that but it may help out.

I tried with the customer service of the website who has the pump but they could not answer. Heck, I even just tried Just Answer.com to see if a Jag mechanic could verify. No reply yet but it is worth the $27 bucks if I do get definitive clarification.

According to the Amish, if you bolt it up, and it all fits, it is compatible. :)

I cant believe that the 3.9 oil pump is not avilable. Doesnt Ford have to make parts for the car for 10 years or something?

After 10 years, US manufacturers do not have to make parts for their vehicles. This should be a big hint for Gen 2 owners who may have any aspirations to rebuild an engine at some point.

Luckily gen II is more reliable.

Still wouldn't be a bad idea to pick up a running gen II later on to keep as a parts car.

+1 on that.

Update on the oil pump. I got some communication from a Jag mechanic on Just Answer.com. He is going to try and cross reference in Monday from the Jag computer system at his dealership. Hopefully, this saga will come to an end with positive results.

Anyone have recollection of a thread for what the v6 oil pump looks like? Just trying to clear up some confusion over a pic. I know it will not work.....before someone makes the perfectly obvious known. LOL. :)

If you have a good parts guy at a Ford dealer, there is a national depot warehouse that Ford dealers use for obselete parts/ hard to find parts that this place collects and holds onto and sells them.
The parts are all brand new in the Ford package, the dealers just sell them to them when the sit on their parts shelves for too many years.

Example old trim pieces from fox mustangs, or exterior trim from older cars.

Mystery solved....

Okay, here is what the deal is. It comes down to build date. After 3/22/01 there was a different oil pump Ford used. The pump I need(FML) is from a build date prior to that. The older pump is available on Drivewire.com for the S Type for $428(which indeed will work on the Gen 1). There are less than 5 available in stock and it is going to back order status once gone. So in short terms, good luck EVER finding that particular oil pump brand new for a 2000 to early 2001 LS.

On a bright note for someone, I happen to have a brand new Motorcraft oil pump for the after 3/22/01 build date through end of 2002 3.9 liter. If someone ever has designs on rebuilding that particular Gen 1 engine, I have the oil pump you need and it is indeed for sale. It is $182 at the Dealer and $128 on Driveline(for the S Type).

PM me with a fair offer if interested. I would add a pic now but the oil pump is with my car 2 hours away sitting in the trunk.

Again, big thanks to Joegr for helping out.
