I am using a USB ELM 327 with ScanMaster program. It displays that it has power but when it tries to connect it gives error "No Connection to ECU".

I swapped out my ECU to see if that was the problem and it was not. Iev read that it could be a shorted out ground.

Is there a diagram of all the grounds for a 97 Lincoln Mark VIII? What should I look for besides frayed wires and corrosion?

Im thinking about taking it to a free check engine light place and see what they say. But I know theyll just try to get over on me or tell me to goto the dealership.

Car had been wreck, airbag flashes code 32 and horn still works. Any chance it could be the clock spring?

When clock spring no work, neither does horn, or cruise

I brought it to auto zone. They said if the cigarette lighter does not work that it will not to read.

I replaced the fuse for the cigarette lighter (it was blown), but it still does not work and the check engine light still wont read.

So Im thinking I have a bad ground somewhere. Does anyone know the common grounds for the cigarette lighter, air bag, and check engine?

I bought the 2 volume official repair manual but they wont be in till next week :(
Google is no help either. If you type in Check Engine Light No Connection to ECU this thread I created is the first thing that pops up. It seems Im the only person in the world that has this problem.

I went through the fuses one by one and did not see any more blown fuses. Im going to get a fuse tester tomorrow.

I searched google for "OBDII No Connection to ECU" and that hit the jackpot on people with this problem.

A solution I read in a blog suggests "use the ecu jumper method and count the CEL flashes".
Which sounds great. Im researching this right now but with no luck. Anyone know that they are talking about?

it is the elm 327... i have had one for a while and I have not gotten it to work in a single obd2 ford car or truck. did vatozone hook their scanner up and it did not work? try some electrical connecter aresol cleaner in the obd2 port.

check for a penny in the cig lighter. is the fuse blowing right after you put it in?
go to orileys if there is one close to you. i will never spend money at a vatozone again.

Thanks! It was the POS elm 327. I brought it back to Autozone and the scan worked..
Cig lighter still does not work. It wont even pop the fuse :(

I got p0305; misfire in Cylinder 5. I changed spark plug, coil pack, and vacuum hoses and it is still coding.
All thats left is the fuel injector. Im going to the junk yard tomorrow and pulling 8 fuel injectors off a Mark; hope at least one is in good shape. I spent $50 on the coil pack, I geuss Im just going to keep it as a spare.

BTW Oreilys makes me rent the scanner and I have to scan it myself. I did that once, couldnt get the scanner to work and they wouldnt help me.
