New Headlight Bulbs?

OKAY

So just a newby question here. I dont know much abou headlight bulbs on a car.

Was wondering.. Is there anyway I can get some Bluish whiteish colored bulbs.. without going to HIDs?

Stock seems like its dim and yellowish??

Im horrible for explaining things But im sure someone will know what IM talking about..

I want some Bright low beam lights.. and I like some cars Ive seen with like a blue-white colored light that is bright. and Mine being Dimish and almost like yellow.??

SO if anyone can enlighten me what I can do.

there are several out there you can buy, I have not had a good experience with a couple of brands, I don't know the names of them of hand. So i gave up on them until i can afford real HID's.

Although i do have the Sylvania ultras, or what ever their top bulb is and they are very bright, another thread on hear recently covered the philips bulbs.

you can get 6K HID set at HIDworld.com for cheap. quality set and ballast. Have had mine for 3+ years, still going strong.
 
G-rell, do have the standard halogen housing with those, I've read that there can be problems with that. Otherwise I would like to get a set.

No problems at all. Its a pretty common set up. its even a "quick plug" set up. no splicing or wiring, takes all of 10 min (unless you go crazy hiding the ballast boxes).
 
did you have to oder their relay kit as well, i am going to order the kit on monday, I just want to make sure i have everything

Nope, its really just for aftermarket headlights, heres the Website reasons:

This Wiring Harness is designed for:
whose car use after market with direct plug and play HID system (e.g. kits from us)
whose car has problem sometimes with only one light turn on at the moment of starting the car
who want to give a better protection to their HID system and the original headlight harness
whose car has one side headlight connector malfunctioning due to use high wattage halogen bulb


They DO take a little bit to warm up (maybe 30sec) but for the price, its worth it
 
I would recommend going HID as well, having used Hoen bulbs and HID on my 02 LSE. You can also get cheap (in price) HID kits from ddmtuning.com if you can stand to wait a few weeks for them to ship.
Go with 4500K or 5000K I think they are like $40-50.00 something like that. I had a small flicker on start-up on occasion on my wife's MKX but the kit as a whole is equal in quality to much more expensive kits I have ran. Plus they offer a lifetime guarantee on the ballasts.
 
Devil's advocate: HID bulbs in halogen housings is a bad combination. They create a ton of glare, which is bad for every other driver around you, and do not actually create "better" visibility...the higher lumens simply give the illusion of better illumination.

Silvania SliverStar bulbs will give you a white/blue-ish color while retaining the stock setup.
 
I got rid of the dim yellow low beams with the Philips HIR2 9012 bulbs and they are white and put out more light without question. Takes a few small cuts with a wire cutter and it's installed in 5 minutes. I just drove 80 miles at night tonight, even my passenger mentioned how nice they were. http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?t=75781
 
i would stay away from silverstars, they dont tend to last to long, they are the only thing ive had to replace faster than coils

True, I should have mentioned that...although I had a set in a car that lasted a couple years. I chalk the shorter longevity of them up to the "pay-to-play" aspect for the OP wanting different color to their lights. :cool:
 
i just think its weird that silverstarts are supposed to be "top of the line" bulbs, but i always had to replace one every 4-6 months, after i went through a few set i switch over to phillips and got the same brightness and they lasted for over two years until she was wrecked out.

i dont mind paying extra for a quality bulb, but paying double just to have it last 1/2 as long just made no sense to me.
