Ok, little problem I got... I don't know what model my LS is. Help me figure it out because I know most of you know the little intricate details about what features go with what models.

My 2001 LS was rear ended back in '04-'05, so the entire back end was replaced, so it says plain old "LS" on the tail light. But the trunk parts could be from a regular "LS" who knows. Plus when I bought the car they provided a 2003 manual, so I know a lot of the info is incorrect between a
1st Gen and 2nd Gen.

Here are some features:

sunroof, 3.9 V8, message center, 6-Disc in dash CD player, polished chrome 11 spoked rims, autostick, woodgrain trim

features that are different:

no woodgrain trim on the steering wheel, no spoiler, no sport sideskirts, no front bumper chrome trim

Also what is the difference between a regular and LSE front bumper?

Look at the 10th digit in your vin for the year. Should be a 1 since you said its an 01. Sounds like you have a v8 sport gen 1 with 03 16 inch 11spoke wheels

Is the shifter leather or wood? O yea, also use the search feature ;)

you have a 1st gen sport,

SST (autostick) = sport

no chrome on bumpers = sport

leather shifter and steering wheel = sport

not painted side skirts = non LSE

i'm not really sure why this keeps confusing people, its been talked about many many times, and its pretty easy to tell the difference.

AND how could you possibly buy something without knowing every detail possible. Even if I was a first time buyer of the LS I'd still do my RESEARCH. No offense to the OP its just...really?

sometimes people make a large purchase such as a used car because it is a "deal" at the time with little time to completely research the details....

I got into an accident and I needed a car ASAP. I had the money and I wanted a LS. When I was buying it, I didn't care if it was a sport, LSE, or premium. I drove it, loved it, bought it. Case closed. If I had more time to shop around I would have done more research. I was just curious, it doesn't matter really what it is...a LS by any other name would drive just as sweet.

Actually the LS can ride pretty different depending on the model.

Ask someone who had a gen I and went to a gen II. But yes any ls is better than none.

So true, I love my LSE but I'd trade it and throw up to 4k cash on an 06 the day I find one worth having!
