Anyone got dimensions on the 8.8" brace for the rear?

I think I may be able to help you out. how many more people are interested?

Good point!
An 8.8 housing would be the same either way but the design of the brace may need to be different for a Gen 2.
Until someone can verify that it would work on a Gen 2, this would be strictly for a Gen 1 LS.
Thanks for pointing that out fast!

Well that just rained all over my parade. Guess I'll have to build a template with some wood first so I can at least get in the ballpark. Templates are your friend. :)

I know you have a Gen 1 fast. I'll talk to Brian about it or you can call him yourself. that might be better/faster.

He also has a Facebook page if you want to check out their work first.
There's no doubt that I'll have one made. you just might want to contact them before It's installed in my car so they can make one for you and anyone else that's interested.
And for the Gen 2 guys I'm sure they can work something out if someone is willing to bring a Gen 2 to him.

Depending upon how much the brace is, I might just buy one and see if it fits. If it doesn't, I'm sure I can re-sell it for a few bucks less to a Gen-1 guy on here.

I cannot think of anything that would be different between the first and second gen that would impact the bracing...I know the stock differentials and axles are different, but they can be swapped between the two without modification. All of the framing and sheet metal back there is the same, right?

I would think they would be the same but I've never been under a Gen 2 so I can't say for sure. anyone else want to chime in here?

Well, whoever feels like building a brace, shoot me a PM. I'm in.

Ohh, and if anyone has a spare Gen1 cover or Mark 8/Cobra IRS Center PM me too :)

You're better off calling Brian at Performance Driven and talking to him about it because that's who is making mine. His info is above in another post.

Best thing to do is have your new housing to mock up with. Everybody fabs different braces.

That set-up does look easier to drop the center out. Am I correct in that it looks like the bracket is welded to the subframe at the top?

Exactly, thats why I did that, just in case I ever want to change the gears again. I'm not putting thousands of HP through it either, but this setup is strong.
Yeah, its just a peice of angle iron welded to the sub-frame.
I pulled the entire sub-frame out of the car and took it to work and did it on the bench. Little extreme but I'm a mechanic so it's easy for me to do stuff the hard way.

I'd love to tell you how the car goes but the driveshaft shop is dragging there feet for the past month, kinda reminicent of that clown from Light wurkz!!!!

Yeah... I'm not sure what I'd rather do, cuss and swear trying to fab a bracket under the car, or cuss and swear pulling the subframe out :)

My only issue with something like that is I have no second vehicle. The more I think about it the better buying a Ford Ranger as a parts mule and back-up sounds better.

That's what I have! Score for the danger ranger.. rofl

LOL! What we used to call a buddy's ranger after he planted a 5.0HO in it. It couldn't hook up to save it's life but was fun as hell in a parking lot :)

Lately what I've been doing is just buying a duplicate of everything, doing whatever I want to do, then swap it in. But at some point I'll end up with a second LS minus the chassis if I keep it up. LOL.
