Hey guys,
I am new to this forum, but certainly not new to the lincoln world. I own a 2004 lincoln ls v6 with 103k miles. This year and this engine size is not known for having bad COP's filled with oil/water...
I have had a few misfires in the past. The codes have read and shown that it is either cyclinder 1,3,4, or 5. Different misfires have shown different cylinders but it has always been one of those 4.
I decided to look into it, and found no oil or rust on the ride hand side of the engine If I am looking at it from the front bumper (so the driver side bank). I have yet to do the other side because it is so difficult to get to. I guess I don't know how to tell if the coils are bad because they look like they are visually in perfect shape
Another issue was that when I turned my heat on I could smell a burning oil smell, but not when I turned on my AC. I check my oil dipstick (it has been about 2200 miles since my last oil change) and found that my oil was low. It was above the min line, but certainly only about 1/5 above it between the max fill line. - So not sure where the oil might be leaking that is causing the burning smell.
So the other day a new code came up and said catalyst efficiency is inadequate... I check my MPG and it was only about 13mpg in the city.
I recently reset my transmission by disconnecting the battery (this was about 4 days after the last catalyst code). It runs a lot smoother in terms of changing from 1st to 2nd etc.
Do I just need to have my PCM reflashed to make sure everything is being done correctly, or what would you suggest my next steps should be?
Thanks again for the help. I hope I put in enough information for everyone to know whats going on.
