They joys of Air ride. or not! - slammed front end

When you take the airbag out, you can put around 6-8 oz's in the bag, then roll it around so the slime can make contact with the whole inners. Then when you reinstall, the compressed air and will not be able to seep out, and the constant flex from driving and the compression of the bag will continually be coated. Most leaks in the bag are located at the bottom portion of the bag as that is where it instantly bellows and compresses. So it is continually being re-coated.

Yeppers. The stuff works wonders. Just remember that it is not a "repair". It is only a temporary band-aid until you can get new air springs. :)

So a little update. Today i decided to slime the bags. ironically i have not had any issues with the pump since the day i mentioned it UNTIL today. i called my buddy and was like dude lets yank these bags and slime em. so im pulling out of my yard and as the compressor was working i backed over some "rough" terrain and i herd a couple of thinks near the compressor while it was going. i was like sh1t not again. about half way to my friends house pop goes the air ride check light again. (im really starting to hate that fing thing). so i pull up and the front end is slammed. while im waiting for him to come out. i turn the car off open the door and turn the key forward and a few seconds later the pump kicks on. sounded like it was trying to puke on its self. it basically made a couple of thunks and then sounded like it lost out on power. i was like :q:q:q:q. but hey what are ya gonna do. so i turned the car off again. waited for my friend to come out. immediately he was like dude your front end is slammed. Duh i know just get in the car.

I started the car up again and the compressor worked fine. im guessing its on its way out. so anyway i get back home pull the driver side bag the one i knew was leaky. when we started to compress it i could see all these little cracks in the bag near the bottom that everyone told me to watch out for. I was like damn looked lit old brittle skin. so we did our thing and put it back in the car. pulled the passenger side and it had small minor cracking in it no where near the what the driver side was tho. i said :q:q:q:q it and slimmed it anyway put em back in. also greased the o-rings too while they were out.

the car is still holding a strong stance right now its been parked for a few hours. ill know more come morning if this 8 dollars bandaid will help me till i can find some new bags.

In the mean time. I have this other compressor that id like to install. so who can tell me the trick to undo the air lines from the old ones and how to connect them to the knew one. The mechanic that gave me the compressor said i needed to push down somewhere and do something. he said he broke several till he learned what the trick was. i dont remember what he told me so i guess ill ask you guys.

by the way thanks for taking the time to read my walls of txt with the poor punctuations and boring story line.

To remove the airline, you have to push the orange ring in to release the line.

I spray it with PB blaster first, then use open needle nose pliers on top of the orange ring to push the ring in evenly, and hold it in. I also twist the line a bit, while pulling the line out. You have to pull pretty hard to pull the line out.

im guessing those orange rings are kind of important then. Is there a way to remove the rings as well. and when ya put the air lines back in do ya have to press down again on the orange rings or can you just cram the line into it?

the orange rings aren't terribly important. they're just easier to push on than the brass underneath.
and to put them back in, just push firmly to seat, and tug on it a bit to make sure it seated. they go in a but farther than expected.

The orange ring just holds a brass collet in place, under the collet is the o ring that seals the line.
That is how the solenoid is anyhow I assume the dryer is the same.
The line can get caught from being in the collet for a long period of time.
By pushing down on the orange ring your releasing pressure on the collet to free the line.
